This collection of sermons is published by order of the clerical conference of the Synod of the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. The contributors are pastors and professors actively engaged in the English work among our people of Scandinavian ancestry in this country. The task of collecting and editing the volume was alotted to the undersigned by our board of publication. The work has been somewhat difficult, and the editor is fully aware of its many shortcomings. The book makes no pretensions. It is intended as a book of devotion for our English-speaking church members. One claim the book does make. It is this: that its contents adhere to the Old Paths.
