X. Of the Means of GRACE.

I. xxx. 20. And though the LORD give you the bread of adverfity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes fhall fee thy teachers.

I. xlix. 9. They fhall feed in the ways, and their pastures fhall be in all high places.

Ver. 10. They fhall not hunger nor thirst, neither fhall the heat nor fun fmite them.

Pf. xxiii. 2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me befide the ftill waters.

I. lii. 7. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publifheth peace, that bringeth good tidings of good, that publifheth falvation, that faith unto, Zion, Thy God reigneth.

Ver. 8. Thy watchmen fhall lift up the voice, with the voice together fhall they fing: For they fhall fee eye to eye, when the LORD fhall bring again Zion.

If. lvi. 7. Them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my houfe of prayer: Their burnt-offerings and their facrifices fhall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an houfe of prayer for all people.

If. lxii. 6. I have fet watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerufalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night.

If. xli. 18. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the vallies; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land fprings of

Fer. iii. 15. I will give you paftors according to mine heart, which fhall feed you with knowledge and understanding:

Ver. 14. And I will fatiate the foul of the priests with fatnefs, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, faith the LORD.

Ezek. xxxiv. 15. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, faith the LORD.

Eph. iv. 11. He gave fome, apoftles; and fome, prophets and fome, evangelists; and fome, pastors and teachers. ;

Ver. 12. For the perfecting of the faints, for the work of the miniftry, for the edifying of the body of Chrift.

Ver. 13. Till we all come into the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of GOD, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the ftature of the fulness of Christ.

Ver. 10.

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light fhall we fee light.

Ver. 3. Becaufe thy loving kindness is better than life my lips fhall praise thee.

Ver. 4. Thus will I blefs thee while I live: I will lift up hands in thy name.

Ver. 5. My foul fhall be satisfied as with marrow and fatnefs and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.

Pf. lxv. 4. Bleffed is the man whom thou chooseft, and caufeft to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts. We fhall be fatisfied with the good. nefs of thine house, even of thy holy temple.

Pf. lxxxiv. 4. Bleffed are they that dwell in thy houfe: they will be ftill praifing thee.

Ver. 10. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand I had rather be a door-keeper in the house. of my GOD, than to dwell in the tents of wickednefs.

Ver. 11. For the Lord is a fun and fhield: he will give grace and glory.

Pf. lxxxix. 15. Bleffed is the people that know the joyful found: they fhall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

Ver. 16. In thy name fhall they rejoice all the day; and in thy righteoufnefs fhall they be exalted.

Pf. xcii. 13. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD, fhall flourish in the courts of our GOD. Cant. ii. 13. I fat under his fhadow with great delight, and his fruit was fweet unto my taste. I. xii. 3. With joy fhall ye draw water out of the wells of falvation.

If. xlviii. 17. I am the LORD which teacheth thee to profit.

If. lx. 7. They fhall come with acceptance upon mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory, Matt. xviii. 20. Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

XI. Of GRACE against SIN and TEMPTATION.

Of Grace to mortify Sin.

Hof. xiv. 8. Ephraim fhall fay, What have I to do any more with idols?

Rom. vi. 6. Knowing this, that

our man is crucified with him, that the body of

fin might be deftroyed, that henceforth we should not ferve fin.

Ver. 14. Sin fhall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Rom. vii. 24. O wretched man that I am, who fhall deliver me from the body of this death?

Ver. 25. I thank GOD, through Jefus Chrift our LORD. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of GOD; but with the flefh the law of fin.

Rom. viii. 2. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ. Jefus, has made me free from the law of fin and death.

Ver. 3. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, GOD fending his own Son, in the likeness of finful flesh, and for fin con-demned fin in the flesh.

Ver. 4. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Gal. v. 16. Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lufts of the flefh.

John viii. 32. Ye fhall know the truth, and the truth fhall make you free [i. e. from fin, v. 34.

John xv. 2. Every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Grace against
Temptation.

Rom. viii. 37. In all these things we are more than conquerors, through. him that loved us.

I Cor. x. 13. GOD is faithful, who will not fuffer you to be tempted above that ye are able ; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

2 Cor. xii. 9. My Grace is fufficient for thee; for my ftrength is made perfect in weakness.

Heb. ii. 18. In that he himself has fuffered, being tempted, he is able to fuccour them that are tempted.

2 Pet. ii. 6. The LORD knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation.

1 John iv. 4. Ye are of GOD, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Eccl. vii. 18. He that fearth GOD fhall come forth of them all.

To preferve from the Incitements of Sinners.

Prov. ii. 12. To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that fpeaketh froward things.

Ver. 16. To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the ftranger that flattereth with her words.

Eccl. vii. 26. I find more bitter than death, the woman whose heart is fnares and nets, and her hands as bands whofo pleafeth GOD, fhall efcape from her, but the finner shall be taken by her.

John xvi. 33. Be of good cheer, I Victory over have overcome the world.

John xvii. 15. I pray not that thou fhouldest take them out of the world, but that thou fhouldeft keep them from the evil.
