Navigation of the Trent.-Whereas this House has been Informed That a Bill is brought into the Honourable House of Commons for the more effectuall making the River Trent Navigable up to Burton (as 'tis called) but the Intent of the same appears plainly to be to

Ingrosse the Navigacion and Monopolize Trade between 2 or 3 persons to the prejudice of the Country in Generall and this Town in particular And applicacion being made to this house for their Assistance in opposing the said Bill passing into a Law Itt is there5 fore ordered That the Chamberlains doe forthwith pay to Mr Mayor any summe or Summes not exceeding fifty pounds to be by him. paid applyed and Distributed towards opposing the passing the said Bill as aforesaid in such manner and proporcion as he shall think fitt.

The Paving of the Market Place.-Itt is ordered That the Chamberlains doe proceed in Paving the Markett place next the New-Walk and between that and the Markett-Wall in the best manner they can.

Market Wall.-The question being putt whether or no the 15 Markett Wall be pull'd down so far as the Chamberlains are to pave by vertue of the order aforesaid. Itt was carryed in the Affirmative by the Majority of Votes.

Timber Hill.-Ordered That Mr William Shepherd have liberty to range his House which he Intends to build on Timber Hill 20 equall with Mr Smith's House and Mrs Metcalfes and his Pillars likewise.

Thomas Burrow being att Age and the Eldest son of a Burgesse yet Notwithstanding being an Apprentice and offering himselfe to be made a Burgesse of this Corporacion the question being putt 25 whether or no he shall be made a Burgesse Itt was carryed in the Affirmative by Majority of Votes.

Right of Common.-Resolv'd this day That the Sworn Burgesses of this Town Inhabiting in the same have right of Common in the Fields according to the fixd Stint whether they be House Keepers 30 or no but that no Burgesse (quatenus such2) living out of Town has such right of Common. 3479 fo. 15a.

According to Bailey, the New Walk was the Long Row (vol. III., p. 1109). We have been unable to find any evidence to support this statement. About this

time Timber Hill was provided with seats under the trees that shaded it.

Collyer's Antiquities of the Town of Nottingham.—The question being putt whether or no Mr John Collyer shall for his good Services in Collecting the Antiquityes of the Town of Nottingham1. be sworn a Burgesse of this Corporacion Itt was carryed in the Affirmative by the Majority of Votes. 3479 fo. 17a. 5°

Right of Common.—The question being putt whether Mr William Kitchen living att Kimberley and having a Stable in Nottingham for which he pays Scott and Lott and having putt 3 Horses in the Fields and this day paying 10s for the same shall have anything and what return'd him again or not. Itt was carryed That he 10 have the whole 10s returned him which was accordingly done.

Message of Welcome to King George I.-Ordered That Mr Mayor, Mr Alderman Barke, Mr Sherwin Mr Sweetaple and who else please doe meet and consider of a propper Addresse to 15 Congratulate his Majesty King George upon his Happy Arrivall att his Kingdom of Great Britain and to assure him of this Corporacions Loyalty and Affeccion for his Majestyes Person and Government and that they will Exert themselves in Defence of the same against the Pretender and all Opposers whatsoever.
