propose to the said Court That the Accounts of such new Trustees be passed att the sign of the [Blank] in Coventry every second Tuesday in May And that each Corporacion concerned doe every Yeare (if they think fitt) appoint two or more persons to be present 5 att the passing the said Accompts.

3478 fo. 10. The New Fairs.-Memorandum Itt is Agreed That applicacion be made for this Town to have two new Faires on the Fryday before Plow-Monday and on the Thursday before Easter every Yeare And this Applicacion be made to our Parliament men.1

Lease of Mills, etc.-Ordered That the Proprietors of the Waterworks have an Absolute Lease of the Watercorn Mills and Closes att the present Rent of £5 per Annum to commence att the Expiracion of the first Lease and to continue for 99 Yeares without 15 any such Provisoe as is in the last Lease the Proprietors have of the Corporation. 3478 fo. 13.

Coventry Money.-Ordered That [Blank] Hopkins Esq. be added to the 2 former Trustees for Coventry-Money in case they be allowed of or if not That Mr Robie Sherwin doe chuse 3 persons out of 20 the names hereafter mencioned to be the said Trustees and give their names in to the Master (vizt.) Mr Samuel Hunt, Mercer, Mr Abraham Orson, Clothier, Mr Joseph Pool, Tammymaker, Mr Jonathan Grundy a Mercer, Mr Gulson Furryer, and Mr John Hassard Flaxdresser all of Coventry. 3478 fo. 13.

25 Coventry Money.-Memorandum this Day Mr Morris by Mr Robie Sherwins Order delivered into this Hall a Bond from the Corporacion of Coventry to this Corporacion for £260 And Mr Sherwin had this Day a Bond sealed from this Corporacion to one Thomas White for his use for the summe of £333 - 17 - o in Lieu of the said Coventry 30 Bond (which was before Assigned over to Mr Sherwin by an Order of Hall in Mr Alderman Drury's time) and for all the Interest due thereupon to this Day And itt is hereby ordered That the said Bond from Coventry be delivered up to the Corporacion of Coventry pursuant to the Order of the High Court of Chancery which Bond is now in 35 Mr Mayors hands. 3478 fo. 13a.

Bridge over the Leen.-Memorandum this house agreed That the Proprietors of the Waterworks have leave to make a Cart-Bridge over the Leen next to Mr Wyldbores Dye-house they doing itt att their own Charge and making good any Damage the Corporacion or any other may suffer by so doing. 3478 fo. 13a. 5 Arch in Goose Gate.-Ordered that the Chamberlains doe goe on to finish the Arch they are making in Goose gate.

Fairs. Memorandum this day Itt was agreed That the Faire which was appointed to be held on the Fryday before Plow-Monday 10 be Described for more certainty to be kept on the Fryday imediately preceding the Tuesday next after Epiphany And that both the Faires be held on the dayes agreed on by this and the former order and for 8 dayes after. 3478 fo. 14a.

Memorandum this day a Lease was Lett to Mr Thomas Smith 15 of the Osier-Holt near Trent Bridges for 21 Yeares from the Expiracion of the old Lease att £35 Fine and the Old-Rent and Covenants. 3478 fo. 14a.

Permission to make Ponds.-Ordered That Mr Mayor and Mr John Sherwin have each of them liberty to make two Ponds in 20 their respective Coppices not exceeding a rood of ground apeice and to carry the Soyle into Mapperly-Plains if they think fitt. 3478 fo. 16a.

1712. Monday April 14.

Resignation of Alexander Burden.-Memorandum that this Day Alexander Burden gentleman one of the Senior Councellmen of 25 this Town of Nottingham Came before me Benjamin Green Mayor of the said Town of Nottingham and the Councell and did then Voluntarily and of his own Accord Surrender his Said office of one of the Senior Councell men of the said Town and prayed there may be another elected and Chosen in his place according 30 to the Custome of the said Town of Nottingham Yet nevertheless desired to Continue his place of one of the Clothing of this

Corporacion untill he shall further Consider of the Same which I the said Mayor and the said Corporacion have Consented to Witness his hand.1

1712. Monday June 16.

Visit of her Grace the Duchess of Newcastle.-This Corporacion being Inform'd That her Grace the Dutchess of Newcastle Intends shortly to come through this Town to Nottingham Castle and having received many Favours from her Grace Itt is ordered That the, Corporacion doe attend and pay their respects 20 to her Grace when she comes to Town and doe meet her att the Borders of our Libertyes And 'tis further ordered That the Corporacion doe present her Grace with the Present usually presented by this Corporacion to persons of her Quality. 3478 fo. 20a.

1712. Wednesday June 25.

The Fire Engines.-Ordered That Mr Chamberlain doe forthwith 25 repaire the Fire-Engines that they may be serviceable in case of any Accident of Fire.

Official Welcome of the Right Honourable the Lord Middleton.Itt is this Day ordered That the Corporacion and Cloathing doe meet the Right-Honourable the Lord Middleton att the Extent 30 of our Libertyes on Horseback in their Formalityes and Congratulate him on his new Accession of Honour And in case his.

His Grace the Bishop of Durham.-Memorandum this Day this House Agreed to the Present sent Yesterday to his Grace the 5 Bishop of Durham. 3478 fo. 22a.

1712. Friday August 1.

Permission granted to the innkeepers to make a pond in the MarketPlace. The question being putt whether or no The Innkeepers have Liberty to make a Horsepond in some convenient place in the Markett-place att their own Charge Itt was carryed in the 10 Affirmative by the Majority of Votes And itt is Ordered That Mr Alderman Salmon, Mr Alderman Barke, Mr Partridge, Mr Thomas Hawksley, Mr Dodsley and the Chamberlains doe sett out a place for the making thereof.

Right of Common.-Memorandum this day 'twas Agreed That 15 Joseph James and Thomas James being Co-partners and all others who are in Partnership have by Vertue thereof only Right of Common as one single person in the Fields belonging to this Town of Nottingham. 3478 fo. 24.

1712. Friday August 22.

Right of Common.—Memorandum this House came this day to 20 the following Resolucions concerning the Commons in the Fields belonging to the Town of Nottingham viz'.

Resolved That three Horses or Beasts and fourty Sheep be the fix't Stint and That no one person or any persons in Copartnership doe putt in above that number by vertue of their right of Common 25 in the said Fields on pain of forfeiting Three Shillings and four pence for each Horse or Beast and the summe of six shillings and eight pence for every Score of Sheep and proportionably to that number which are putt into the said Fields above the said Stint which said summes are to be apply'd to the use of the Corporacion. 30 Resolv'd That the right of Common in the said Fields is in the House Keepers only within this Town and not in the Land-holders if they be not House-Keepers.

Resolv'd That no one House does give a Common Right to more than one person or if two or more Joyn in the House-Keeping in such case they to have right but as one person.

Collin's Hospital.-Ordered That Mr Thomas
