1731. Monday July 26.

Pump at Weekday Cross.—Leave is hereby given to the Neighbourhood about the Weekday Cross that they may at their own Charge Set down a Pump in the Leaden Well there and this Corporacion towards effecting the same do hereby give to the said Neighbourhood the Frame of the said Well the Lead and other 5 Materiall about the same So as they fix a pump in the said Well and maintain the same for 21 years from this day otherwise this Corporacion shall have the said Frame Lead and other Materiall again.

The Wardens of the Butchers.-Ordered That the Wardens of the Butchers shall not now or henceforwards be allowed anything for to the Carriage of Thorns into the Meadows And that if they do not forthwith pay to the Chamberlains the Rent and Arrears now due from them to this Corporacion they shall be sued for the same.

Agnes Mellors Will.-Ordered That the Copy of Mrs Agnes 15 Mellors Will found amongst the papers of the late Mr Joseph Hemus deceased shall be entred by Mr Smith into the New Leiger which he shall take out of the Hall for that purpose the said copy being Supposed to be taken from the Leiger book burnt in Mr Morris's house.

The Free School.-Mr Edward Chappell Clerk was this day Nemine Contradicente Nominated and Elected Schoolmaster of the Freeschool of this Town of Nottingham in the place and stead of Mr John Swaile deceased.1

The Free School. This day the Reverend Mr Edward Chappell 5 who was lately Elected Schoolmaster of the free school of this Town of Nottingham finding it not convenient or Suitable for him to take upon him the care and duty of Attending the said School Therefore Doth Resign the said office of Schoolmaster of the said School and the Sallery Profitts and other Appurtenances thereto belonging and to this his Resignacion hath hereto sett his hand (which this Hall doth accept of).

The Free School. This day Mr Henry Butler and Mr John Wood 15 Schoolwardens being added to the Hall between Eleven and Twelve. of the Clock The Hall and they Proceeded to an Eleccion of a Schoolmaster of the free School of this Town in the Room of the Reverend Mr Edward Chappell who lately resigned the said office (He being before chosen in the Room of the Reverend Mr John Swaile 20 deceased) And Mr John Henson the present Usher of the said School was by Majority of Votes Elected Master of the said Free School of this Town of Nottingham To hold and enjoy the said Office with the Sallery and other Perquisites belonging to the said office. 3491 fo 10 25

1732. Tuesday May 9.

The Free School. This day about twelve o'Clock The two Schoolwardens were added to the Hall and the Eleccion of an Usher came on for the free School of this Town And Mr George Wayte was Elected and chosen Usher of the said Free school To hold the said Office and place with the Sallery and other usuall Perquisites 30 belonging to the same By a Majority of Votes. 3491 fo. 12.

The Schoolwardens were present at this election.

Tolls at Goose Fair.-Resolved that Mr Mayor Alderman Green, Alderman Bilbie Alderman Trigge, Doctor Dodsley, and Mr Hornbuckle shall Consult of and Enquire into the Right of all the officers belonging to this Corporacion to Tolls at Goose fair and make their 5 report next Hall day. 3491 fo. 17a.

I desire you for to pay unto Mr Robert Birch Four pounds Ten shillings for the Doore Cullam and Pedesall for the Hen Cross and it 10 shall be allowed in your accountts by Thomas Trigge Mayor.

Arrival of lodgers to be notified. Whereas the Parishes within this Town are become burthened with chargeable poor and with vagabonds and Sturdy beggars which in Some measure may be Attributed to persons taking Lodgers and Inmates and not giving notice thereof to the Churchwardens or Overseers of the poor as they ought to do 20. It is therefore Ordered by this Court That all persons who take Lodgers or Inmates by the week or month or quarterly or yearly or divide their houses to lett out any Room or Rooms that they fail not to give in the true names Sirnames and last places of abode of Such Lodgers or Inmates to the Churchwardens or Overseers of the 25 poor of the respective parishes within this Town (within Twenty four hours after their first coming) And that if such persons taking Lodgers or Inmates as aforesaid Shall be negligent in so doing they shall be Indicted or presented and have the Laws Executed upon them.

And that this order be printed and published.
