1726. Thursday June 2.

The question being put what rent Alderman Pennell shall pay for the House known by the Sign of the Peacock in Smithy Row It passed that he shall pay £4 10s. a year And that he shall have a Lease thereof for 21 years at that rent from the expiracion of the former Lease thereof 3485 fo. 12a. 5

St. Nicholas' Workhouse.-Resolved that a piece of ground in the way to the Castle Leen shall be granted to the parish of St Nicholas for building a Workhouse and other houses for the imploying and lodging the poor of that parish for 999 years from Michaelmas next at the yearly rent of 1/- In like manner as ground hath been 10 granted to the parishes of St Mary and St Peter 3485 fo. 13.

Labray's Hospital. This day the Common Seal of this Corporacion was affixed to Lease and Release being an absolute Conveyance of a piece of Wast ground without Chappell Barr for building an Almshouse by moneys ariseing out of Jonathan Labrays 15 Estate to Thomas Smith Esq. To be holden of the Mannor of the Town of Nottingham by a penny rent payable to the Lord of the Mannor. 3485 fo. 13a.

1726. Monday June 27.

Restriction as to grant of Burgess-ship to Cordwainers.-Upon the Humble Peticion of the Cordwainers of this Town It is ordered 20 That for the future The Freedome of this Corporacion shall not be granted to any person of the trade of a Cordwainer without the Headmasters and Wardens of the said trade being first acquainted therewith Unless such person shall have first served as an Apprentice by the space of Seven year to Some of the said trade within this 25. Right of Common.-The question being put If Burgesses not paying Scot and lot shall have Common in the Fields It passed in the affirmative by the majority of votes.

Ordered That none of the shops in the New Buildings next the Change shall be let to Butchers 3485 fo. 19. Right of Common.-Resolved That no person shall put more than thirty sheep into the fields and they to be branded at the Pinfold 5 on the Narr Buttock before they are put in. 3485 fo. 19a.

1726. Monday September 26.

Pen money. The question being put if the pen money shall for the future be taken by the Sheriffes at a rent to be set thereon by the Corporacion It passed in the affirmative And it is ordered and resolved That the question be put what that rent shall be It passed 10 that the same shall be £12 a year And all future Sheriffes shall be obliged to pay such rent Untill this order shall be altered or reversed. by the Hall.

▾ Translation:-The Constable Jury present John Plumptre for putting dung and rubbish in Barker Gate and against the wall of the cemetery, part of which dung has been washed to the end of the bridge.

Translation:-The Constable Jury present John English for exercising the craft of a barber for one month contrary to the Statute, 5th Elizabeth.

seven years.

5 It should be remembered that 'Chapel Bar' was the gateway into the town and not the street as is now the case. This street was called Bar Gate.

Lease of land.-Memorandum That this day the Common Seal of this Corporacion was affixed to a Lease for a year and to a Release bearing date respectively Yesterday and this day purporting to be an absolute Conveyance of a piece of Wast ground on the backside 10 being 28 foot in length 21 Inches in breadth at one end and 4 foot at the other on which part of the Riding house is built and of another piece of Wast ground on the Back of the Backside adjoyning to Job Booths house being 54 foot in length 10 foot in breadth at one end and five foot at the other with the appurtenances by this 15 Corporacion to the said Job Booth In consideracion of £5 By him now paid to the Chamberlains. 3486 fo. 8a.

1727. Tuesday August 8.

Allotment of the White Rents.-This day the Upper part of the White rents was allotted to the parish of St Nicholas, the Midle part to the parish of St Mary and the Lower part to the parish of 20 St Peter Two rooms of the Midle part to go with the Nether and one room of the Upper part to go with the Midle part. The Garden to be fenced and levelled at the equall expense of the three parishes and then equally divided Reserving always to this Corporacion the powers trusts and authorities they have to cover the said White 25 rents Every parish to have the full possession of their respective parts by Michaelmas day next. 3486 fo. 17.

1727. Wednesday September 27.

The Stint of Sheep.-Ordered and declared That the Stint of Sheep of every Householder to be put in the fields shall be thirty and no

more and that No sheep shall be put therein before they are branded by the Pindar. If otherwise the same are ordered to be impounded and the owners to pay pinship and Such fine as the Corporacion shall think fit to impose on them. 3486 fo. 27.
