officers who have reached the statutory age of 64 may be recalled to active duty. Section 1 of the proposed bill would authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to order such officers to active duty in time of national emergency. Section 2 would authorize the calling of any such officer to active duty at any other time with his consent. The Department recommends enactment of this proposed legislation. It would be appreciated if you would lay this proposed bill before the House of Representatives. A similar bill has been transmitted to the President of the Senate.
