The Speaker laid before the House two communications from the Secretary of State.

Which on motion of Mr. Monroe,

Were ordered to be laid upon the table.

Mr. Wright of Warren moved

To take up the following resolution.

Which on yesterday was laid upon the table, to wit:

"Resolved, That the door keeper be directed to remove one third of the tables out of the House, so as to give the members more room." Which motion was agreed to.

Whereupon, Mr. Hunter moved

To amend said resolution by striking out the words "one third" and inserting in lieu thereof "one fourth."

Which was accepted.

Mr. Redman then moved,

To amend said resolution, by striking out all after the word "resolved," and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

"That a committee be appointed to remove so many of the tables as will best accomodate the Members of this House."

Which motion was agreed to, and

The question then being taken upon the adoption of the resolution, it was decided in the affirmative.

Whereupon, Messrs. Redman, Wright of Warren and Thompson, were appointed that committee.

The Senate, by their engrossing clerk, Mr. R. Brown, communicated to the House the following Message:

MR. SPEAKER-The Senate have passed the following resolution: Resolved, If the House of Representatives concur, that the two Houses of the General Assembly will meet in the hall of the House of Representatives on to-morrow, the 23rd, at 10 o'clock A. M., for the purpose of counting the votes for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and having the persons elected qualified.

Mr. Noland introduced the following resolution:

Resolved, That E. L. Edwards be permitted to come within the bar of this house, to copy the Journal for the use of the editor of the Jeffersonian.

Mr. Bowlin offered the following amendment.

Strike out all after the word "resolved," and insert the following: "That the Speaker be authorised to permit editors of papers to come into the hall to report proceedings, while it may be deemed by him practicable."

Which was agreed to.

And the question then being taken upon the adoption of said resolution, it was decided in the negative.

On motion of Mr. Bowlin,

The resolution from the Senate relative to counting the votes for Governor and Lieutenant Governor was taken up.

Whereupon Mr. Bowlin offered the following amendment, to-wit: Strike out the words "at ten A. M." and insert at "three P. M." Which was agreed to, and the resolution as amended, was then adopted.

The speaker laid before the House a communication from the Secretary of state.

Which on motion of Mr. Thorton

Was ordered to be laid upon the table. Message from the Senate by Mr. Brown.

MR. SPEAKER-I am instructed to inform the House that the Senate have disagreed to the resolution of the House, which fixed Saturday next as the time to elect a Senator to the Congress of the United States.

On motion of Mr. Cravens of Pettis,

The resolution from the Senate, relative to the election of a Senator to the Congress of the United States was taken up and agreed to, and

On motion,

The House adjourned.

The House met pursuant to adjournment.

Mr. Richard H. Woolfolk, from the county of Lincoln, appeared, produced his credentials, was qualified and took his seat.

The Speaker, announced the appointment of the following standing committees, to-wit:

On the Judiciary-Messrs. King, Doniphan, Bowlin, Wright of Marion, Bay, Young, Chambers, Monroe and Davis.

On Ways and Means.-Messrs. Edwards, Price, McGunnegle, Hunter, Gray, Turner, Woodson, Alford, and Hancock.

On Criminal Jurisprudence.-Messrs. Bowlin, Gordon, Coalter, Wright of Pike, Morris, Thomas, Thornton, Head, and Taylor. On Internal Improvements. Messrs. Wright of Pike, Davis, Clark, Maupin, Jones, Simmons, Wilkerson, Hutchison, and Thornton. On Education. Messrs. Chambers, King, Redman, Shannon, Detchemendy, Edwards, Jackson, Holliday, and Fulkerson.

On the Militia.-Messrs. Smith of Washington, Cravens of Madison, Blythe, Canole, Minor, Penn, Fewell, Wilson of Barry, and Watts.

On Claims.-Messrs. Cravens of Pettis, Alexander, Snyder, Barnes, Stuart, Netherton, and McCausland.

On the seat of Government.-Messrs. Monroe, Thompson, Williams, Holloway, Duncan, Burns, and Detchemendy.

On motion of Mr. King,

The House passed over the previous orders, and resolved itself into a committee of the whole house on the state of the republic; and after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and

Their chairman, Mr. Thornton, reported, that the committee have had, according to orders, under consideration the Governor's message, and recommend to the House the adoption of the following resolutions:

1. Resolved, That a committee of members be appointed, whose duty it shall be to distribute the various subjects embraced in the Governor's message, to the appropriate standing committees, except so much as relates to the subject of a state bank.

2. Resolved, That a select committee of members be appointed, whose duty it shall be to take into consideration so much of the Governor's message as relates to the incorporation of a state bank, and that they report by bill, or otherwise.

On motion of Mr. King,

The blank in the first resolution was filled with the word 'three." On motion of Mr. Bowlin,

The blank in the second resolution was filled with the word "thirteen."

The question was then taken on agreeing to the report, and
Decided in the affirmative.

Messrs. King, Chambers, and Edwards, were appointed the select committee raised under the first resolution.

Messrs. Bowlin, Thornton, Davis, Thomas, Wright of Pike, Gray, Simmons, Noland, Jones, Detchemendy, Wilkerson, Head, and King, were appointed the select committee raised under the second resolution.

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Baber.

MR. SPEAKER:-I am instructed to inform the House of Represen

tatives, that the Senate have agreed to the report of the joint committee to draft joint rules for the government of the two houses.

That the Senate have concurred in the amendment made by the House, to the resolution for the purpose of counting the votes for Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

And that the Senate have appointed Messrs. Vanarsdall, Deguire, and Montgomery, a committee on enrolled bills.

Mr. Monroe submitted the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Doorkeeper call upon the Secretary of State for twenty-five copies of the revised statutes of 1825, for the use of this House.

Mr. Edwards moved to amend the resolution by striking out the words "twenty-five" and inserting "forty" in lieu thereof.

Which amendment was accepted.

The question then recurring on the adoption of the resolution, it It was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Fort, from the joint committee on enrolled bills, reported that said committee had examined, and found truly enrolled,

"An act to regulate the Governor's salary."

Which bill was signed by the Speaker of the House, and transmitted to the Senate.

Mr. Cravens of Pettis gave notice, that, on Saturday next, he would ask leave to introduce a bill declaring the county road from Arrowrock to Georgetown a part of the state road.

On motion of Mr. Coalter, it was

Rrsolved, That the Secretary of State furnish this House with forty copies of the pamphlet acts which were passed by the General Assembly between the years 1825 and 1835.

Mr. Monroe moved a reconsideration of the resolution offered on yesterday, by Mr. Noland, to admit a reporter for the Jeffersonian within the bar of this House.

Which motion was agreed to.

Mr. Monroe then moved,

To amend the resolution, by striking out all after the word "resolved," and inserting in lieu thereof the following: that reporters of newspapers be permitted within the bar, for the purpose of reporting the proceedings of this House.

Which amendment was agreed to.

And the question recurring on the adoption of the resolution,
It was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Fort, from the joint committee on enrolled bills, reported, that the committee have this day presented to the Lieutenant and acting Governor, for his approval, a bill entitled

"An act to regulate the Governor's salary."

The Speaker laid before the House the following communication from the Lieutenant and acting Governor.

Resolved, If the Senate concur therein, that the two houses will, on Friday next immediately after electing a Senator to the United States Congress, proceed to the election of State Treasurer.
