was referred a resolution instructing them to enquire into the expediency of repealing so much of the fifth section of the first article of an act establishing Justices Courts, and regulating proceedings therein, as declares that no Justice of the Peace shall have cognizance of any action against any rightful executor, or administrator, or corporation, have had the same under consideration, and reported that it is inexpedient to repeal the said law, and asked to be discharged from the further consideration thereof, and said committee was discharged accordingly.

A message from the Senate by Mr. Brown.

MR. SPEAKER-There has been introduced this day into the Senate, a bill of the following title:

"A bill to organize the county of Macon.'

The Senate has passed a bill from the House of Representatives, entitled,

"An act to change the names of certain children therein named, and for other purposes."

And also a bill from the House of Representatives, entitled "An act to incorporate the Marine Insurance Company of St. Louis" To which last bill, they have proposed an amendment in which they ask the concurrence of the House of Representatives.

The resolution relative to the election of a Warden of the Penitentiary, was taken up.

GENTLEMEN-The undersigned, electors of President and Vice President of the United States, from the 1st, 2d and 4th districts of the State of Missouri, have the honor, of representing to you now in session, that our colleague William Monroe, esq., elected from the third district of the state, has not appeared at the time and place prescribed by law for the meeting of the electors to give their votes. This information is communicated to you that you may adopt such measures as may be necessary and proper.

and that the seats on the right of the Speaker's chair are set apart for their reception-and also to elect a Warden of the Penitentiary. "A bill to authorise the state Treasurer to receive the surplus revenue,"

The followling resolution was adopted.

Resolved, That hereafter all resolutions or bills introduced for the purpose of drawing money out of the state Treasury, shall be accompanied by a report giving a brief statement of the nature of the claimants demand.

A message from the Senate.

MR. SPEAKER-The Senate have adopted the following resolution. Resolved, That the House of Representatives be informed that the Senate is now ready to go into the election of an elector. But the Senate is not prepared to go into the election of Warden of the Pententiary.
