Chapter 39.

Resolve in favor of Limerick Academy.

Academy, in

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars is hereby Limerick annually appropriated for the term of ten years, to Limerick favor of. Academy, an institution of learning, located in the town of Limerick, in the county of York, provided, however, that this appropriation is made on the express conditions that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation a school equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy. And provided further, that the governor and council, and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when the same shall be in operation. And if in the opinion of the governor and council, said institution at any time hereafter shall fail to fulfill the conditions of this resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Chapter 40.

Resolve in favor of Paris Hill Academy.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars be hereby appropriated annually for the term of ten years to Paris Hill Academy, an institution of learning located in the town of Paris in the county of Oxford. Provided, however, that this appropriation is made upon the express condition that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation a school in equal rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy, of not less than three terms of ten weeks each during each year, and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council said institution at any time hereafter shall fail to fulfill the conditions of this resolve, they may in their discretion withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Resolved, That there be paid to Timothy C. Tapley of Brooksville, out of the state treasury, a pension of four dollars per month, commencing on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and ninety-one.

Monson Academy, in favor of.

Chapter 42.

Resolve in favor of Monson Academy.

Resolved, That the sum of three hundred dollars is hereby appropriated annually, for the term of ten years, to Monson Academy, an institution of learning in the town of Monson in the county of Piscataquis, provided, however, that this appropriation is made on the express condition that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation, a school equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy; and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when the same shall be in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council, said institution at any time hereafter, shall fail to fulfill the conditions contained in this resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Resolve in favor of the Maine State College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts.

Resolved, That the sum of twenty-four thousand and five

Agriculture, in hundred dollars, be, and hereby is appropriated for and in behalf of the Maine State College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts, for the years eighteen hundred and ninetyone, and eighteen hundred and ninety-two, to be expended as follows: amount to be used to erect new building to replace Wingate Hall, sixteen thousand dollars; to erect

foundry building, eight hundred dollars; for cases in Coburn CHAP. 44 Hall, department of Natural History, six hundred dollars; to construct dairy building, two thousand and five hundred dollars; to erect tool shed, five hundred dollars; for stand pipe for fire protection, three thousand and six hundred dollars; for hose and carriage, five hundred dollars, and the full amount hereby appropriated for the above named purposes shall be payable as required for above named purposes. Provided, however, that each of the several sums hereinbefore mentioned, shall be used for the respective purposes specified in this resolve and for no other.

Chapter 44.

Resolve in favor of Hampden Academy.

Resolved, That there be, and hereby is appropriated to Hampden Hampden Academy, an institution of learning located in Hampden in the county of Penobscot, the sum of three hundred dollars for the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and ninety-one, and the sum of five hundred dollars per annum for nine years thereafter, provided, however, that this appropriation is made on the express condition that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation a school equal in rank and grade of teaching, with a first class academy, and that there shall be three terms per year of not less than twelve weeks each; and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of common schools, shall have the right at all times to visit said school when in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council said institution. at any time hereafter shall fail to fulfill the conditions contained in this resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Resolved, That the sum of three hundred dollars is hereby annually appropriated for the term of ten years to Limington Academy, an institution of learning located in the town of Limington in the county of York, provided, however, that this appropriation is made on the express conditions that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation, a school equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy, and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times, to visit said school when the same shall be in operation; and if in the opinion of the governor and council, said institution at any time hereafter, shall fail to fulfill the conditions of this resolve they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Resolved, That there be paid out of the state treasury, to William Poor of Brownfield, a pension of six dollars per month beginning February one, eighteen hundred and ninety

Resolved, That the land agent be authorized to convey lot numbered fifteen, range four in township twelve in Castle Hill plantation in Aroostook county, when the road labor is paid, waiving further settling duties.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars is hereby Somerset appropriated annually, for the term of ten years, to Somerset favor of." Academy, an institution of learning located in the town of Athens in the county of Somerset, provided, however, that this appropriation is made upon the express condition that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation, a school equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy, three terms of not less than ten weeks each during each year; and provided further, that the governor and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when the same shall be in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council, said institution at any time hereafter, shall fail to fulfill the conditions of this resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Resolve in favor of Fryeburg Academy.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars is hereby Fryeburg, appropriated annually for the term of ten years, to Fryeburg favor of Academy, an institution of learning located in the town of Fryeburg, in the county of Oxford, provided, that this appropriation is made with the following condition: that the trustees of said institution shall maintain three terms of school of not less than ten weeks each, equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy; and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when the same shall be in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council, said institution at any time hereafter shall fail to fulfill the conditions of this resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.
