Chapter 125.

Resolves in aid of the Maine Gettysburg Commission.

Resolved, That the sum of five thousand dollars be and is hereby appropriated to be expended in completing the work of the Maine Gettysburg Commission. The bills for which when audited and approved by the governor and council, the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay. The said sum is to be expended for the following objects:

Two hundred dollars for a tablet or monument for the nineteenth Maine regiment at copse of trees in front of Longstreet's assault, July third, eighteen hundred and sixty-three. Twenty-five dollars to change flanking stones of the fifth Maine Battery, Seminary Heights.

One hundred and fifty dollars to change the monument and legend of fifth Maine regiment monument.

Two hundred and three dollars due to Hallowell Granite Company.

Three hundred dollars for placing tablet on seventeenth Maine monument and for placing a tablet or monument on the field occupied by the sevententh Maine regiment in front of Longstreet's assault, July third, eighteen hundred and sixty-three.

One hundred and fifty dollars for expenses of the executive committee to date.

Sixty-four dollars for photographic negatives of Maine monuments on the Gettysburg battlefield.

Three thousand six hundred dollars for printing and binding reports of the Gettysburg commission.

Three hundred and eight dollars for incidental expenses of executive committee to close up the business of the Gettysburg commission.

Resolved, That the reports of the Maine Gettysburg Commissioners provided in this resolve shall be distributed as follows:

Two thousand copies to the said commission, balance to be placed in charge of the state librarian, to be distributed to the members of the legislature, exchange with libraries and other public institutions.

Chapter 126.

Resolve in favor of cities and towns, in which was owned on the first day of April, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, capital stock of the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad.

Resolved, That there be and hereby is appropriated out of the state treasury the sum of thirteen hundred and thirty dollars and sixty-four cents according to the lists hereto annexed.

City of Belfast, on preferred stock, two thousand five hundred and eighteen shares, five hundred and seventy-seven dollars and sixty-six cents; city of Belfast on non preferred stock, three thousand six hundred and four shares, six hundred and ninety-three dollars and sixty cents; town of Brooks, non preferred stock, two hundred shares, thirtyeight dollars and forty-three cents; town of Burnham, preferred stock, twenty shares, four dollars and sixty-one cents; town of Brownville, preferred stock, one share, twenty-three cents; town of Camden, preferred stock, ten shares, two dollars and thirty cents; city of Portland, preferred stock, three shares, sixty-nine cents; town of Searsport, preferred stock, twenty-four shares, five dollars and fifty-three cents; town of Stockton, preferred stock, one share, twenty-three cents; town of Vassalborough, preferred stock, two shares, forty-six cents; town of Winterport, preferred stock, thirty shares, six dollars and ninety cents.

Resolve providing for the payment of the contingent expenses of the Legislature.

Resolved, That there be paid from the treasury to the secretary of the senate, for furnishing daily papers to the mem- expense of, bers and officers of the senate, to members and officers of the house of representatives, and to the executive council, during the present session, for advertising for the legislature and executive council, and for postage and transportation of mail and documents for the senate and house of representatives, the sum of three thousand dollars.

Governor and staff, expenses of at World's Fair.

Chapter 128.

Resolve appropriating two thousand dollars to pay expenses of the Governor and Staff at installation of World's Fair at Chicago.

Resolved, That the sum of two thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be, and the same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of paying the expenses of the Governor and staff only, in attending the installation of the World's Fair at Chicago, in the fall of eighteen hundred and ninety-two.
