commissioner shall be authorized and required to assume and CHAP. 336 exercise, subject to the supervision of said board, all such executive powers and functions as may be necessary to secure a complete and creditable display of the interests of the state at the World's Columbian Exposition of eighteen hundred and ninety-three; and, as the executive agent of said board, he shall have personal charge of the solicitation, collection, transportation, arrangement and exhibition of the objects sent under the authority of the state to the World's Columbian Exposition of eighteen hundred and ninety-three, and of such objects sent by individual citizens of the state as may be by them placed in his charge. He shall make a report to the board monthly and shall hold office at the pleasure of the board.

Chapter 337.

An Act authorizing the city of Calais to renew its mortgage of the Saint Croix and Penobscot
Railroad.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in Legislature assembled, as follows:

The city of Calais is hereby authorized to renew its mortgage of the Saint Croix and Penobscot Railroad upon such term and conditions as the mayor and city council may determine.

Doings of town of Greenville, made valid.

Chapter 33s.

An Act to make valid the doings of the town of Greenville.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in Legislature assembled, as follows:

SECT. 1. The mode of notifying and warning the annual town meeting of the town of Greenville, for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-one; and all the acts, votes and proceedings of the inhabitants of said town, at said annual town meeting, are hereby confirmed and made valid and legal in the same manner as though said annual town meeting had been notified and warned, and a return thereof made in accordance with the mode voted by said town at the annual town meeting of said town for the year eighteen hundred and seventy.

SECT. 2. This act shall take effect when approved.

An Act to set off certain property in Foxcroft from the limits of the Dover and Foxcroft
Village Fire Company.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in Legislature assembled, as follows:

SECT. 1. The territory in Foxcroft covered by the residences and land connected therewith of William McComb, Freeman H. Jackson, Lewis C. Dexter, Danville P. Oaks, George W. Colcord, Charles B. Sherburne, Luther Garland and John F. Martin, is hereby set off from the limits of the Dover and Foxcroft Village Fire Company.

SECT. 2. This act shall take effect when approved.

State tax, 1891.

Chapter 340.

An Act for the assessment of a State Tax for the year one thousand eight hundred and ninetyone, amounting to the sum of eight hundred fifty-one thousand seven hundred forty-one dollars and ninety cents.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in Legislature assembled, as follows:

SECTION 1. That each city, town, plantation, or any other place hereinafter named, within this state, shall be assessed and pay the several sums with which they respectively stand charged in the following lists; the same being in addition to the poll tax of one cent on each poll, a tax of two and three-fourths mills on the dollar of the present valuation, for the current disbursements of the treasury, for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-one and for the school mill fund established by an act approved February twenty-seven, eighteen hundred and seventy-two.
