The Several Officers chosen for the district of Rumny Marsh to Serve for the year ensueing are as followeth viz. Thomas Berry to Serve as Constable.

John Centre as Surveyor of Highwayes.

Jonathan Bill, Elisha Tuthill, as Tithingmen.

Jonathan Townsen, William Hasie, as Fence Veiwers.

The Severall Officers chosen to Serve within the district of Muddy River viz.

Ralph Shepherd to Serve as Constable.

Peter Bileston as Surveyor of Highwayes.

Jonas Clark, Edward Proctor, Joseph Royal Saylmak', Benjamen Emmons, jun'., Daniell Powning, Samuell Oker, Henry Bridgam Son of Jonath", Edward Okes, Nathaniel Aires, John Bucanan, Nicholas Sparry, John Cuneyball, Seth Dwight, William Tedman, John Adams, William Tilley to Serve as Tithingmen.

Voted that the Selectmen Lay out one hundred pounds in pave

ing Such Places of the Streets as they shall judg most needfull & therein to have perticuler regard to the Highway nigh Old mr Stoddard's House.

Elisha Cook Esq., Collonoll Elisha Hutchinson, Coll. Pen Townsend, Coll. Thomas Savage & Capt. Timothy Clark, are appointed to be a Committee to veiw the Fortifications of this Town, and Advise about the repaires thereof, and the Selectmen are to Expend thereon not exceeding the Sum of fifty pounds.

Voted, that a New School House be build in Stead of the Old School House in weh m' Ezekiell Chever Teacheth, and it is Left with the Select men to get the Same accomplished,

Voted that the Sum of Twelve hundred pounds be Assessed by the Select men on the Inhabitants and Estates of this Town, to be imployed in defraying the necessary Charges there of.

Aprill 19th. At a Meeting of the Free holders and other Inhabits of the Town of Boston duly Qualified and warned according to Law, being convened at the Town House on the 19th day of Aprill, 1704, did then and there chuse vote agree and declare as followeth viz1.

Mr Henry Dereing to be Moderater for this Meeting.

Mr Thomas Jackson to Serve as Select man for the year ensueing.

Mr. Benjamen Walker to Serve as an Overseer of ye Poor in the room of Thomas Bratle Esq'.

[272.] Mesus. Joseph Simpson, John Baker, & John Noyes to Serve as Constables for the ensueing year in y° room of Mesu". Dan". Wyborn, John Barbor & Nich". Buttolph.

Mr. John Noyes refuseing to Serve & promiseing to pay his fine, Mr. David Jess is Chosen to Serve as Constable in his Stead. Elisha Ilutchinson Esq., John Foster Esq., Samuell Legg Esq. Pen Townsend Esq. & Thomas Brattle Esq. Are Chosen a Committee to Audit the Treasurers accot for the year Ensucing. Mesu. Henry Dereing, Oliver Noyes, Stephen Minot, Richard Draper, Simion Stoddard, & William Anthram are Chosen to be a Committee, to Enquire into the best Expedient for the Asserting and maintaining the Towns Intrest in the flats Abutting on the Streets, Lanes & High wayes in this Town: And to Advise with the Select men there abouts.

Voted that the Select men do in behalfe of this Town return thanks to m'. Francis Thrasher for his Service in Overseeing the Repaireing the Almes House & yard & the fenceing the burying place and the Pound, & his manageing the paveing at the neck, and his Service as Overseer of the Pcor, Like wise thanks to Mr. Rob Calef for his Servic: as an Overseer of ye Poor.

At a meeting of the Free holders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Boston, duly qualified and warned according to Law, being convened at the Town House the fifteenth day of May Anno Dommi 1704 did then and there vote chuse and declare as followeth vizt.

Pen Townsend Esq. to serve as Moderator for this present meeting.

Elisha Cook Esq'. Thomas Okes Esq'. Capt. Ephraim Savage, Capt. Sam" Checkley w'. chosen to Serve as Representives at the Gen". Court to be held on Wednsday the 31th of May Currt.

Mr. John Briggs grasier to serve as Constable for the year ensueing, in ye room of m'. Joseph Simpson.

Elisha Cook Esq. being present did declare unto the Assembly his non acceptance of the Service unto wch he was now chosen. It being objected at this meeting that Sundry of the Inhabitants were with drawn & gon: It was Voted by the Maj' part of those present, not to proceed to a new choyce of a Representitive at this meeting.

[273.] At a meeting of the Free holders and other inhabitants of the Town of Boston duly quallified & warned according to Law, being convened at the Town House the 26th day of May did then and there chuse as followeth vizt.

Mr. Henry Dering to Serve as Moderator for this meeting.

Mr. Elizur Holyoke (was by the Major part of the voters present) chosen to Serve as their Representitive in the room of Elisha Cook Esq'.

At a meeting of the Free holders and other Inhabitants of Boston duly quallified and warned, being convened the eleventh day of of September Anno Domm1 1704.

Deacon John Marrion was chosen Moderator for Sd meeting.

Capt. Nathanill Green junior was Chosen to Serve as Constable for the remayning part of the year ensueing in the room of M3. John Burneby who is gone on a voyage to Sea.

At a meeting of the Free holders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Boston duly quallified and warned according to Law being convened at the Town House in Boston the 30th of Septemb'. 1704 did then and there Chuse as followeth vizt.

Cap'. Ephraim Savage moderator for Sd. meeting.

M'. Thomas Godfrey to Serve in ye office of Constable for the remayning part of the year ensueing in the room of Capt. Nathaniell Green who hath refused to Serve.

At a meeting of the Free holders and other Inhabits of the Town of Boston, duly qualified and warned According to Law, being convened at the Town House the 12th day of March 1704 \ 5 did then and there vote declare and chuse as followeth viz.

Pen Townsend Esq'. to Serve as Moderator for this meeting. Voted to chuse nine Select men for the year ensueing. Daniel Oliver, Thomas Fitch, Joseph Prout, Thomas Jackson, John Barnerd, Timothy Clark, John Marrion, Elias Heath, Daniell Powning were chosen to Serve as Select men for the year ensueing.

Joseph Prout to Serve as Town Clerk for ye year ensueing.

Peter Hauksworth, John Langdon Sen'. Jonathan Jackson, Ezekiel Lewise, Eliah Adams, Thomas Salter, Elisha Webb, John Cookson were chosen to Serve as Constables for ye year ensueing.

Jonathan Jackson, Ezekiell Lewise, Eliah Adams, and John Cookson declare their refusall to Serve as Constables & Samuel Gardener, Hopestill Foster, Benjamen Emmons jun. William Tilley were chosen to Serve as Constables in their room.

[274.] William Tilley for Sundry reasons by him offered is by the Vote of the Town excused from the Service of Constable for the year ensueing unto wch. he was chosen.

Severall Officers chosen to Serve for ye District of Muddy Riv. vizt.

Thomas Stedman to Serve as Constable.

John Winchester jun. John Ackers, Abraham Chamberline, Surveyors of Highwayes.

John Sever, Benjamen White, Fence Veiwers.

Robert Cumbey, John Nicholls, William Jepson, Samuell Barrat, John Dasset, Joseph Marshall, Samuell Gray, Samuell Marrion, James Grant, Jonathan Williams, Josiah Biles Sen'. Nicholas Bow, Wigglesworth Switcher, James Williams, Edward Gray, John Clough were chosen to Serve as Tithing men for the year ensueing.

Oficers chosen for the district of Rumny Marsh viz.

Jonathan Bill to Serve as Constable for ye year ensueing.
Elisha Bennet Surveyor of Highwayes.

Edward Tuthill & Hugh Floyd for Tithing men.

John Centre & John Floyd for Fence Veiwers for the year ensueing.

Joseph Prout to Serve as Treasu' for the year ensueing.

Granted unto Joseph Prout the Sum of fifteen pounds to be paid him out of the Treasury for his service as Treasurer for the year past.

It being proposed to the Town whether they would chuse a Collecto to gether the rates, and the same was voted in the negative.

Voted that Robert Calef & Francis Thrasher be dischared from paying Intrest for the Sum of one hundred and Twenty pounds formerly put into their hands by the Overseers of the Poor.

[275.] Simion Stoddard Esq'. Thomas Brattle Esq'. Thomas Palmer Esq. Samuell Lynde Esq. Capt. Ephraim Savage Mesu”. Elizur Holyoke Benjamen Walker, John Borland, Henry Dering, William Clark, Stephen Minot, & William Welsteed wer chosen Overseers of the Poor for the year ensueing.

Capt. Bozoon Allen, L. Samuel Johnson, Joseph Belknap jun. Benjamen Pemberton & Edward Winslow were chosen to Serve as Surveyors of the Highwayes of the year ensueing.

Savill Simpson, William Paine Joyner, Samuell Haugh, Joseph Grant, John Eustice & Richard Gridley were chosen to Serve as Clarks of ye market for ye Ensueing year.

Benjamen Emmons Sen'. Joshua Lane & William Jepson w'. chosen to Serve as Sealers of Leather for ye year ensueing.

William Robie, Henry Emms, Joseph Squire, Seth Smith, & Alexand Miller were chosen to Serve as Scavengers for ye year ensueing.

Samuel Bridge, Thomas Leveret, Sam". Thorn & William Shepreeve wre. chosen to Serve as Hogreeves for yo ensueing year. Samuell Bridge, Capt. Thomas Barnerd, Peter Wire & David Langdon were chosen to Serve as Fence Veiwers for the year ensueing.

Voted that m*. Nathaniell Williams be paid at the rate of Eighty pounds p Annum for his Service at the Lattin School for the year currant and for the year thence next ensueing.

Voted that Elisha Cook Esq'. Elisha Hutchinson Esq. & John Foster Esq. be a Committee to treat and gree with Samuell Sewall Esq. about purchaceing of him a peice of Land for the Enlargement of the north Burying place.

Elisha Cook Esq'. Elder Joseph Bridgham, Capt. Ephraim Savage, Capt. Bozoon Allen, & Capt. Oliver Noyse are chosen a Committee to consider and draw up what they shall thinck proper on the behalfe of this Town, to Lay before the Gen". Court at their next Sessions, relateing to a Petition of Sundry of the Inhabitants of Muddy River who pray that they may be dismist from the Town of Boston: & become a Town Ship of themselves.

[276.] For the preventing of Rams going with the Ewes out of due Season, within the District of Rumny Marsh. Ordered. That whosoever of the Inhabitants within the district aforesaid Shall finde or take up any Ram going with his or their Sheep, at any time from the tenth of August to the Tenth of November yearly, Such Ram Shall be forfeited to Such person so finding and takeing up the Same.

May the 14th 1705. At a meeting of the free holders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Boston duly qualified and warned According to Law being convened at the Town House the day and year aforesaid, did then and there Vote chuse, and declare as followeth vizt.

Mr. John White to be moderator he not accepting Penn Townsend Esq. to be the moderator for this meeting.

William Briggs chosen to Serve as Constable for the year ensueing in the room of William Tilley, the said Briggs being present pleading his being Latly Imprest and haveing now his Servant in Her Majties Service at the Castle in his room is by a vote of the Town dismist from Serveing as Constable for this year.

Andrew Cunnigham is chosen to Serve as Constable for the year ensueing in the room of William Briggs, S. Cunningham pleading a lameness in his Armes is by ye vote of the Town Excused from Sa Service.

Allexander Sherrar is chosen to Serve as Constable for the year ensucing he being present refuseth to Serve and promiseth to pay his fine.

Joseph Hubbert is chosen to Serve as Constable for ye year ensueing & Sworn.

Mr. Thomas Cushing is chosen to Serve as Selectman for the year ensueing.
