Resolutions relative to the establishment of two Seminaries of Learning. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That City and County authorities and individuals be, and they are hereby, requested to report to the Governor, to be by him laid before the next General Assembly, a statement of the amount which said city or county au- Governor. thorities or individuals will contribute in land, buildings, or money, for the purpose of establishing a Seminary of Learning, in accordance with the provisions of an act providing for the establishment of two Seminaries of Learning: the contents of said reports to be kept secret, (if desired by those making them,) until transmitted to both houses of the General Assembly.

Resolved 2nd, The Seminary of Learning which is to be located in the district East of the Suwannee River, shall be located in that County in said district which, in the opinion of the next Gen- be eral Assembly, presents the greatest inducements for the location of where, &c. said Seminary; and the Seminary which is to be located in the district West of the Suwannee River, shall be located in that County in the district which, in the opinion of said General Assembly, presents the greatest inducements for the location.

A Resolution for the relief of Joel L. Lockhart.

Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the account of Joel L. Lockhart, of Benton County, who claimed his seat in this House, under a certificate from the Judge of Probate from said Claim allowed. County, but has been superceded by the present sitting member, be audited and allowed for the sum of sixty-four dollars, to wit: eighteen dollars for six days attendance, and fifty dollars for travel to and from the capital, being a distance of two hundred and fifty miles.

Resolutions for the relief of Isaac P. Hardee and L. D. Rogers.

Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the

Per diem and

State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the account of Isaac P. Hardee, of Levy County, who claimed his seat in this House as a member from said County, but against whose claim a mileage allow decision has been made and in favor of the present sitting member, be audited and allowed for the sum of seventy-five dollars and forty cents, to wit: for eleven days attendance, and forty-two dollars and forty cents for travel to and from the capital, being a distance of 424 miles.

Be it further resolved, That L. D. Rogers, the contestant from Hillsborough County of the seat of J. T. Magbee, be allowed and paid the sum of thirty-three dollars for eleven days attendance, and seventy dollars for his travelling expenses from Hillsborough County to this place, a distance of three hundred and fifty miles.

Resolution for the Relief of Thomas Langford.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State Comptroller to audit claim. of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the Comptroller of Public Accounts be, and he is hereby, authorized to audit the claim of Thomas Langford, and issue his warrant, payable to his order on the Treasurer of the State, for the sum of nine dollars, in consideration of that amount of money paid through mistake into the Treasury of the State.

Resolution for the relief of Henry C. Wilson.

WHEREAS, Henry C. Wilson had settled on and improved a part of the eight sections of land, located for fixing the Seat of Government of the State of Florida, before the said land was selected for the State: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the said Henry C. Wilson be, and he is hereby, authorized and allowed to purchase

from the State, one hundred and sixty acres of said land, including Authorized to his improvements, on the same terms and conditions on which set- purchase certlers were allowed to purchase State Lands, under an act entitled tain land. an act for the relief of settlers on Public Lands, and to grant preemption right in certain cases, approved January 7, 1848: Provided however, That the said Henry C. Wilson, shall not be entitled to enter the said one hundred and sixty acres of land, until after the General Government shall have confirmed the location of the eight sections referred to: And provided further, Thatthe said Henry C. Wilson was entitled to pre-emption under the laws of the United States, prior to the selection of said eight sections.

Resolution relative to a Seal for Hernando County.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the Secretary of Circuit Court this State be and he is hereby authorized and requested to furnish Seal. Hernando County with an appropriate seal for the Circuit Court of

said County, to be paid out of the Treasury of this State.

Resolution relative to the employment of a Clerk in the Comptroller's Office. Resolved, That the Comptroller of Public Accounts be and he is hereby authorized to employ an assistant clerk in his office for and during the session of this General Assembly, and that said assistant clerk be allowed the same amount of compensation as is now allowed to the assistant clerk of the House.

Resolution to increase the Bond of the Treasurer of the State of Florida. WHEREAS, The Treasurer of this State is by law made the receiver of all moneys arising from the sale of public lands of every character whatsoever :

Be it therefore Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the Treasurer of this State be, and he is hereby, required to increase his Bond to seventy-five thousand dollars.

Corley to copy the laws passed at this session, under the superintendence of the Secretary of State, for such compensation as was allowed for similar services at the last session of the General Assembly.

Be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Florida in General Assembly convened, That the Governor be, and he is hereby, authorized to let out, at such terms as he may deem proper, to the lowest bidder, the transportation of the Laws, Journals, and other public documents which are or may be required Laws & Jourby law to be distributed throughout the State, and the person who distributed by gets the contract, shall give bond to the satisfaction of the Governor; 1st of May. and the Laws, Journals, and other public documents, shall be distributed by the first day of May, A. D. 1851, and the Comptroller shall issue his warrant for the payment of the same [out] of the Contingent Fund, upon proof of the performance of the contract.
