Devoted chiefly to the elucidation of Mental Pathology, and the Medical Jurispru dence of Insanity. Conducted by EDWARD MEAD, M.D. A quarterly publication comprising 100 pages per number, commencing on the first of January, 1875. It is proposed to revive this journal, which was established in 1853, under the same editorship. Its design is to present a periscopic view of the facts of insanity, with their practical application, and to discuss at large the medico-legal relations of the insane, in the form of Essays and Lectures from the pens of able contributors. It will also embrace the results of the latest researches concerning the functions of the brain and nervous system, together with their various pathological phases. Clinical reports will be given, so far as they can be obtained, with the results of the employment of new methods of treatment. The history of institutions, and the most approved plans of construction and crganization, statistics, reports of important trials, bibliographical reviews, and notices, with such items of current literature as have a legitimate connection with the general subject, will be embraced within the scope of the plan. C, the bottom flange, is bevelled on inside and rounded to outer edge. This allows a smooth surface to press against the breast. D is a rubber teat pressed over the shield and retained in place by the rim B. The contrivances hitherto devised for the purpose have generally fallen into disuse on account of radical defects in construction, and the substitute now offered has been withheld until it could be thoroughly tested in a class of cases which have resisted medical treatment. How it obviates the most objectionable feature of the ordinary appliances, and in what respects is superior to them, is at once apparent upon examining the cut and reading the explanation.
