LITA LINZER SCHWARTZ, PhD, ABPP, is Distinguished Professor Emerita at the Pennsylvania State University. She has authored or coauthored 14 previous books, including Mid-Life Divorce Counseling and Alternatives to Infertility.

FLORENCE W. KASLOW, PhD, ABPP, is Director of the Florida Couples and Family Institute. She is past president of the Family Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association, and of the International Family Therapy Association, former editor of the Journal of Marriage and Family Therapy, and author or editor of 15 previous books, and over 140 articles and book chapters.

JEFFREY J. MAGNAVITA, PhD, ABPP, teaches at the University of Hartford, West Hartford, Connecticut, and is Director of the Connecticut Center for Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy at the Glastonbury Medical Arts Center, Glastonbury, Connecticut. His other books include Relational Therapy for Personality Disorders (Wiley) and Restructuring Personality Disorders.

TERENCE PATTERSON, EdD, ABPP, is a licensed psychologist and is board certified in family psychology. Director of Doctoral Training in the Department of Counseling Psychology at the University of San Francisco, he is consulting editor of the American Psychological Association's Bulletin The Family Psychologist and a member of the editorial board of The American Journal of Family Therapy.

JAY L. LEBOW is Senior Faculty Member at the Family Institute at Northwestern University and Adjunct Associate Professor at Northwestern University. He is past president of the APA's Division 43 (Family Psychology), an approved supervisor of AAMFT, and a former board member of the American Family Therapy Academy and American Board of Family Psychology.
