In the office of the Surrogate of Duchess County is recorded the will of

SARAH VAN VOORHEES, of
Duchess County, widow
of JOHANNES VAN VOOR-
HEES, deceased.

Will recites:

Will dated Oct. 4, 1770.
Proved Nov. 16, 1773.
Recorded Liber. 1, p. 60.

"I give to my son, John Hegeman, the sum of Ten pounds for his birthright. The remainder of my estate to all the children of my son, John Hegeman, by his first wife; and the children of my son, Henry Hegeman, deceased; and to the children of my son, Joseph Hegeman, deceased; and to the children of Henry Lott, deceased; and to the children of William, which he hath by his first wife, deceased."

She orders all her household goods and wearing apparel to be sold at auction within three months after her death, and the proceeds to be equally divided between all her grandchildren mentioned above. She leaves as her executors:

Witnesses to the will:

JACOB EVERSON.
HARRIS GRIFFIN.

JOSEPH HEGEMAN.

ABRAHAM LOSEY and
JOSEPH HEGEMAN.

It would appear, from the fact that she describes herself as "Sarah Van Voorhees, widow of Johannes Van Voorhees, deceased," that John Hegeman, Henry Hegeman, and Joseph Hegeman were adopted sons, although she may possibly have married a second time.
