TRANSLATION.

I, Kort Van Voorhees, was married to Catryna Fylking, the 16 of June, in the year 1727.

My twin daughters Cattrina and Barbara were born the
25th of November, in the year 1730.

My daughter Jannetje was born the 21st of March, 1733.
My son Henry was born the 21st of April, in the year 1735.
My son Johannis was born the 7th of June, in the year 1738.
My daughter Mary was born the 27th of April, in the year
1740.

My son Cornelis was born the 30th of April, in the year
1742.

My daughter Magdelena was born the 13th of April, in the year 1744.

My daughter Sara was born the 12th of May, in the year 1746.

My son Zachariah was born the 21st of March, in the year 1748.

Cornelis Van Voorhees, son of Coert Van Voorhees, died on the first day of April, 1769, on his passage from the West Indies, in the Lat. 32° 37′, Long. 72° 47′, in the 27th year of his age.

Henry Van Vooris died the 18th of September, in the year of our Lord 1801; 66 years of age the 21st of April.

In the name of God, Amen; I, Johannes Van Vorhuis, of Rombout Precinct in Duchess County, in the Province of New York, Yeoman, being weak in body but of sound memory-blessed be God therefor-Do this fifteenth day of August, in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred and fifty-five-make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following-that is to say-Imprimis—I commend my soul to the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth from whence it came, in hopes

of a joyful resurrection at the last day-and as for that worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless meafter payment of my just debts and funeral expenses by my Executors hereinafter named, I give, devise, and dispose thereof as followeth: I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son, Court Van Voorhis, the sum of five pounds, to be raised and levied out of my personal estate, wherewith I do exclude and bar him from any other or further claim as being my eldest son and heir-at-law. Item: I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son, Zacharias Van Voorhis, the choice of one of my negro men, and also my old negro man Tone, forever; also one good waggon with its tackling, two horses, two cows, a plow and its tackling, and to his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Van Voorhis, before any division is made, one good waggon with its tackling, two horses, two cows, a plow with its tackling, and to his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife, Sarah Van Voorhis, the sum of seventyfive pounds current money of New York, to be raised and levied out of my personal estate, and to be paid unto her by my Executors hereinafter named within three months after my decease; fifty pounds of said seventy-five pounds is in discharge of so much I covenanted to pay unto her, in and by a contract of marriage entered into between us, and the remaining twenty-five pounds is given her for the love and affection that I have for her. Item: It is my will, order, and desire that my negro woman shall live and serve my said son Zacharias as long as he shall remain unmarried, and in case of his marriage or death, or which shall first happen, she shall and hereby is to be deemed part of my personal estate, and disposed of as is the residue of my personal estate hereinafter mentioned and disposed. Item: I

give, devise, and bequeath all my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever, in manner following, that is to say: one equal quarter part unto my aforesaid son Court, and to his heirs and assigns forever; one other equal quarter part unto the children of my late son Johannes Van Voorhis, deceased, and to their several and respective heirs and assigns forever; one other equal quarter part to my aforesaid son Zacharias Van Voorhis, and to his heirs and assigns forever; and the remaining equal quarter part thereof unto my well beloved son, Jacob Van Voorhis, and to his heirs and assigns forever. Item: all the rest, residue, and remainder of my personal estate I give, devise, and bequeath unto my three aforesaid sons, the children of my late son Johannes, and my two daughters, Jannetie and Maria—to each son, and to my daughters, and to the children together, one equal and even sixth part, share, and proportion thereof, and that the division and sharing of the said rest, residue, and remainder of my personal estate shall be had and made within six months after my decease. Lastly, I do by these presents nominate, constitute, and appoint my said sons Zacharias and Jacob, and my sons-in-law, John Brinkerhoff and Elias Dubois, Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former and other Wills and Testaments heretofore by me made, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.

Johannes Coerte Van Voorhees died October 10, 1757, and was buried in a plot of land on his own farm, which subsequently became the Van Voorhis family buryingground, and although but few gravestones have been found upon it, it was probably used as such down to about the year 1790. The following gravestones were unearthed a few years since, and were preserved by the kindness of Mrs. J. J. Monell, of Fishkill-on-the-Hudson, near whose
