beloved, noble in her hospitalities, a bright and shining light in her home amid a large family circle, untiring in her devotions, no exertion too severe, always ready to sacrifice her own pleasure in order to contribute to the happiness and advance the prosperity of her family and friends. In this respect she was most remarkable and had no superior, which in a measure accounts for the grief manifested by her sorrowing family in losing such a mother and such a friend, although having passed the ordinary boundary of life, when a further continuance here, amid the pressure of age and infirmity, was to her only labor and sorrow. The writer of this imperfect sketch knew her well. Her memory will long be fragrant and cherished; her pleasant and cheering words of comfort to the despondent, her charities which have relieved many a sorrowing heart, always looking on the bright side amid the sorrows and troubles of life, which she met with Christian resignation and serenity. Her funeral services took place in the village of Fishkill, April 3d, and her remains were buried in the Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Van Santvoord, of Kingston, delivered the address, assisted by Rev. Mr. Anderson, the pastor of the ancient and venerable church where she so often attended in early lifethe church of her ancestors, then under the ministry of her friend and pastor, the late Rev. Dr. C. D. Westbrook; in view of the grand old mountains and elegant scenery of that beautiful valley consecrated to her remembrance during life, a fitting place after weary life is ended for her mortal body to repose, and sleep her last sleep in the home of her youth, the place of her early joys and affections.-F.
