J. N. SHANNAHAN:- Mr. President and gentlemen: This is a long report and I do not propose to take your time by any lengthy presentation of it. I assume that all those interested, and I hope that all are interested, will read it at their own convenience. We believe that some schemes are presented in this report by which much could be accomplished. I will simply present, Mr. President, the recommendations of the Publicity Committee.

I would like to refer to one or two things in this connection. Of course, you will all realize that the convention affords the Advertising Section an opportunity to procure the material for putting our story over and giving it to the public. You will be interested in knowing that this week in Chicago there are 19 conventions, and in spite of that we have been able to get real publicity. We have gotten this week something in excess of 4,000 inches in the papers in Chicago. I think that speaks for itself of the activities and clever handling of the Director of the Section. I wish to say, Mr. President, that the Association is very fortunate in having such a man.

PRESIDENT TODD:- You have heard the report of the Committee on Publicity. Is there any discussion of this report? If not, we will take up the report of the Committee of One Hundred, of which committee Mr. Guy E. Tripp, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company, New York City, is Chairman. In the absence of Mr. Tripp, the report will be presented by Mr. Arthur W. Brady.

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF ONE HUNDRED To the American Electric Railway Association:

GENTLEMEN-Your Committee of One Hundred desires to report that its work of general publicity in the past has been fully appreciated · by those interested in electric railways as the call for funds to carry on the work in the past year met a very generous response and over $45,000 was pledged and collected for carrying on the work; $14,797.19 still remains in the treasury against which there are August expenses of about $2,500.
