Ships not having British Registers are to pay one fourth more of the rates of pilotage than stated in the above table (except chiefly laden with corn or other provisions), and which is to be paid at the custom house. For every vessel (except country vessels hereinafter described) entering For every vessel loading outwards in the said docks, being a new ship, or for all goods imported or brought from the East Indies or China, £. s. d. 0 14 0 0 12 0 0 4 020 040 For all goods imported from the East Indies or China, and unloaded in the said docks, the ton Such ton to be estimated and calculated on all goods whatever, according to the usual mode of estimating tons of goods by the East India Company; which rate shall be paid in respect of all such goods so imported, within three months after the vessel containing such goods shall be cleared; and in respect of all such goods so imported for any other persons such rate shall be deducted out of the produce of such goods at the sales thereof, by the receiver of the East India Company, and shall by him be paid over to the collector for the said East India Company, as soon after such sales as the account of such privileged or private trade of such goods can be made up. Which several rates shall be accepted in satisfaction of the use and convenience of the said docks, and all charges and expenses of the navigating, mooring, unmooring, removing, and management of such vessel, from her arrival at the entrance into the said docks until such vessel shall be unloaded and removed from the said docks, and also the unloading or unshipping of her cargo and stores within the said docks, and also for the loading of her cargo and stores within the said docks, together with the use of the light dock for any space of time, not exceeding six calendar months from the time of unloading such vessel, in case there be sufficient and convenient space for the reception of such vessel in such light dock during such period. The foregoing rates shall not extend to any lighters or craft entering into the said locks, to convey, deliver, discharge, or receive goods, or any other matter or thing whatsoever, to or from on board of any vessel, in such docks. The tonnage or admeasurement of all vessels liable to the payment of any of the rates of tonnage by this act imposed, shall be ascertained according to the certified tonnage in the ship's register, and the master of each such vessel is required to produce such certificate of registry, at the time of payment of the said rates, to the persons who shall be duly authorized to collect such rates, and in case of any dispute about the same, then the tonnage of such vessel shall be ascertained according to 26 Geo. 3. c. 60. A TABLE of RATES to be charged at the East India Docks in Londen on Goods imported by private Merchants from the East Indies, and which are not, upon being landed, sent to the East India Company's Warehouses. The following are the rates of tonnage, according to the usage of the East India Company, of the principal articles (piece goods excepted) imported in the Company's ships, and which, by the acts of 43 and 46 Geo, 3. [TITLE 238.] were those upon which the duties and rates to the East India Dock Company were appointed to be paid. 1 On 1 Imports by Private Ships, (the Goods not being sent to the East India Company's Warehouses, but warehoused with the Dock Company,) the following Charges will be made, according to the preceding Scale of Tonnage. (The above charges being independent of the 2s. the ton for dock dues, granted by the act 43 Geo. 3. c. 126. and the 2s. the ton for wharfage and loading, granted by 46 Geo. 3. c. 113.) And the goods so warehoused will be charged with rent as expressed by the following tables. (a) The tonnage of these articles is estimated by the East India Company at a certain number of pieces, but the packages being unopened by the Dock Company, the measured ton at the London Docks is adopted instead of the number of pieces. |
