CHAPTERS ON HOLINESS: EXPOSITORY AND PRACTICAL. BY THE REV. JOHN HARTLEY, Author of "Hid Treasures," &c. "I STAND AT THE DOOR OF THE TEMPLE WITH MY TORCH; IF YOU London: PUBLISHED FOR THE AUTHOR WESLEYAN METHODIST BOOK-ROOM, AND 66, PATERNOSTER-ROW, E. C. Preface. A BOUT one third of the following pages have already, in different ways, appeared in print. Many testimonies to the use of them made by the Divine Spirit, and requests that they should be put into a more permanent form, have induced the writer to issue this little work. It has no pretensions to be regarded as an exhaustive or distinctively theological treatise. Questions on the subject, of a metaphysical, or rather psychological character, are passed by. To discuss them, even if there had been the consciousness of the requisite ability, would have been foreign to the writer's design. This is simply to help devout and thoughtful Christians to understand what the will of the Lord is; and to stimulate and encourage them to obtain this fulness of blessing. The second chapter was published anonymously in The King's Highway. As some ministers may look into this volume, it has been reprinted here. WESLEYAN COLLEGE, HANDSWORTH, Contents.
