which Leads to Kings Bridge in the out ward of this City are part of the Common Lands belonging to this Corporation, and being Desirous to Erect a Small House on Some part of the said Land then humbly prays that the Corporation will be pleased to Grant to him a Lease for one acre or two of said Lands for so Long Term as they shall think proper, which being taken into Consideration by this Board, IT is THEREUPON by them RESOLVED, and agreed to that the said Petition be Rejected, and the same is hereby Accordingly Rejected

ORDERD the Like to Mr Isaac Stoutenburgh or his Order the sum of Three pounds Seven Shillings and one half penny in full for an Acc! Exhibited by Alderman Bancker, as also Twenty one pounds Four shillings for the Constables days and nights Watches from the Fourteenth of October one thousand Seven hundred and

fifty five to the Fourteenth of April [452] One thousand Seven Hundred and fifty Six Inclusive; Likewise one pound Ten Shillings, for the Like sum by him Advanced and paid to Mathew Wool, for a half Years Lighting the Citys Lamps, Likewise Fifteen pounds for advance Money for firewood and Candles for the Ensuing Year, and Like wise, Nine pounds Four Shillings and Six pence, in full for another Account Exhibited by said Mr Stoutenburgh to this day, for Sundry Services by him done for this Corporation, as pr his said Accounts Sworn to and Allowed of by this board, which said Severall sums in the whole and together do Amount unto Fifty pounds five Shillings and Six pence half penny Current money of this Coloney

Alderman De Peyster, Chairman of the Committee for Receiving the City arms, from on board of Captain Garrison, Reported that the Committee had agreed with Isaac Stoutenburgh to allow him Seven pounds for the Ensueing Year, to take the Care and Charge of the said arms, and for Cleansing and putting up & keeping the same in good order

ORDER'D the Mayor Issue his Warrant to the Treasurer of this City to pay to Johannes Myer Messenger & Door keeper to this Board or his order Warrant Issued the Sum of Three pounds fifteen Shillings in full for one Quarters Sallary Due unto him and Ending

the Second day of this Instant Month of June

THE COMMITTEE Appointed the Second Day of Aprill Last to Examine what Debts that were then Due to this Corporation and Such as were Good and Might be Recovered, and to Send for the persons and Debtors and demand the same from them, and what debts were Bad, them to ballance in the Treasurers books, made their report in these words Viz! THE COMMITTEE Appointed on the Second Day of Ap[r]ill Last, to Examine what Debts now due to this Corporation are Good and may be Recovered, and to Send for the persons Debtors and Demand the same from them, and what debts are bad, them to Ballance in the Treasurers books, Do in Obedience to the said Appointment Report that all the Debts or Sums of Money Mentioned in the Treasurers Account hereunto Annexed are Good and Recoverable, Except only the Seven Debts in the said Account Mentioned. to which we have Prefixed the Letter B, and that them Seven be Ballanced in the Treasurers books as we Conceive they are irrecoverable; THE COMMITTEE further Report that it appears to them that their is due unto this Corporation from Adolph Brass for Stall Rent or as Farmer of the Stalls Standings and places of the Publick Markets Since the Year one thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty four the sum

of thirty pounds, which Sum The Committce Conceive Should be Reduced to Twenty pounds [454] IN Consideration of the Money by him Laid out and Expended in Sinking and Makeing the well in the Publick Street near his Dwelling house, and also that the said Brass is Further Indebted to this Corporation in the sum of Two hundred and Thirty four Pounds Seven and Six pence being So much in Arreare for Dock, Wharfs, and Slips rent; THE COMMITTEE Do further Report that it appears to them that Garret Cosine is Indebted or in Arreare To this Corporation in the sum of Two Hundred and fifty five pounds for Dock Wharfs & Slips rent, but being Informed by him that that Debt is properly the Debt of Luke Roome and who owned the same, THE COMMITTEE are Agreed that the Same may be Reduced to Two Hundred pounds that the Abatement of the sum of Twenty four pounds Eleven Shillings part of the whole Abatement of fifty five pounds be Allowed in Consideration of Loses by him Sustained when he was Farmer of the Dock Wharfs and Slips of this City, and the Remaining Sum of Thirty pounds Nine Shillings which makes the Sum of Fifty five pounds be Allowed for Monies by him Expended for the use of this Corporation which Sum of Thirty pounds Nine Shillings was Some Time Settled and Allowed him by a former Committee.

THE COMMITTEE do further Report that it Appears to them that Benjamin Peck is Indebted unto this Corporation in the Sum of Sixty Seven pounds five Shillings and a penny half penny, The Committee do humbly propose and advise that Mr Treasurer be Directed that Forthwith or with all Convenient Speed he demand the Aforesaid Severall Sums of Money from the Severall persons above Mentioned, and Acquaint them Severally and Respectively that unless they Immediately pay of and Discharge the Sums by them Severally owing their Bonds or other Instruments of Security will Immediately be put in Suit

THE COMMITTEE do further humbly Recommend that Mr Treasurer be directed to use the utmost diligence and Industry in Recovering and Receiveing all the other Monies due from the Severall persons in the Annexed Account Mentioned and that he do from time to time at the Severall Meetings of this Corporation inform them of the progress he Shall make therein, All which is Nevertheless humbly Submitted by the Committee to witt:

ORDERD that the Assize of bread be till further order Flower att 16 pr Cent.

a White Loaf of the finest flower to weigh. 2lb: o for 4 English 1⁄2 pence Do..... . .of Do. . . . . . ...to weigh. I : 0 for 2d Do

[455] AND ORDERD that no other Bread be made for Sale within this City, then According to the Above Assize (hard bisquets only Excepted) and that all Bakers within this City take Notice thereof and make their Bread Accordingly

ORDERD that the Committee who were Appointed the Eighteenth of August Last to Receive Sundry Arms from on Board Captain Garrison &c be a Committee to make a Closet Opposite to the one Lately made in the Common Councill Chamber for the use of the City Arms

Alderman Cruger Chairman of the Committee Appointed to Settle the Accounts of the Managers of the Late Lottery, and to Receive the Ballance from them and discharge Such of the Bonds as were Due from this Corporation: Reported to this board that the said Committee have Received from the Severall Managers of the said Lottery the sum of eight hundred and Forty one pounds Two Shillings and have discharged the Severall Bonds following Vizt a Bond from this Corporation to Abraham Van Duersen Amounting in the whole for principall and Interest to the sum of Three Hundred and Sixty one pounds. Eighteen Shillings and three pence half penny, one other Bond from This Corporation to Abraham Lefferts for Principall and Interest to the Sum of one Hundred and Fourteen pounds Ten Shillings and Six pence; and also one other Bond from this Corporation to Catharine Livingston for Principall and Interest to the sum of Two Hundred and four pounds Nine Shillings and Two pence and Likewise an order to Henry Carmer for Principall and Interest to the sum of one Hundred and five pounds Eight Shillings and Ten pence half penny all which Severall Sums in the whole and together Amount unto. Seven Hundred and Eighty six Pounds Six Shillings and Ten pence half penny; and that the Ballance Remaining on the said Sum of Eight Hundred and forty one pounds Two Shillings after Deducting the Aforesaid Sum of Seven Hundred and Eighty Six pounds Six Shillings and Ten pence half penny, is Fifty four pounds fifteen Shillings and Two pence which Sum together with one Hundred and thirty five pounds being what the said Committee have Lately Received Amounts. to one hundred and Eighty Nine pounds fifteen Shillings and Two
