ORDER'D the Like to Mrs Elizabeth Kierstead or her order the Sum of Eleven pounds fourteen Shillings and Ten pence Three farthings in full of her account with this Corporation as her account allowed of by this Board

ORDER'D the Like to John Zeriche or his order the Sum of £33:27 in full of his account with this Corporation as his account Sworn to and allowed of by this Board

[410] ORDER'D the Like to Peter Brower or his order. the Sum of Sixteen pounds Eleven Shillings and Three pence three farthings in full of his account for work Done for this Corporation as his said account Sworn to and allowed of by this Board

RESOLVED and ORDER'D by this Board that the water Lotts fronting the Up Lotts belonging to the Heirs of St Peter Warren Deceased in the west ward of this City Lying in the North River be granted to them. pursuant to y agreement formerly made with this Corporation by Mr. Richard Nicolls for and in Behalf of sd Mr Warren

Mr Deputy Mayor moved to this Board purporting that as there are a Great Number of Inhabitants in this City Very poor and not able to furnish themselves with fire arms in Case of an Invasion &c therefore prayed that this Board would take the matter into their Consideration and provide a Number for to be and Remain to the use of this Corporation, whereupon after some Consideration had thereon, It is ORDER'D and agreed to by this Board that one Thousand Muskets fixed with a Bayonet, one Cartridge Box and a Belt for each Cartridge Box

be immediately Sent for, Each muskett with its accoutriments not to Exceed Twenty five Shillings Sterling and WHEREAS Alderman De Lancey was pleased to Offer to this Board to Send for five hundred. of the abovesaid Muskets &: provided this Board would allow and pay to him the Interest of Such Sum from the time of his advancing & Laying out the Same till Repaid, which proposall was accepted of and agreed to by this Board.

ORDER'D that the New Exchange be Lett to Mess's Keen and Lightfoot for one Year to Commence the Eleventh of February Next and to End the Eleventh of February thereafter under the yearly Rent of Thirty Pounds annum & that they pay the Same to the Treasurer or Chamberlain of this City by Quarterly payments

THE PETITION of Dennis Hicks of the Out ward of this City yeoman, was profferd to this Board praying &c: To The worshipfull the Mayor, Aldermen and Commonalty of the City of New York Convened in Common Council, The Petition of Dennis Hicks of the outward of the said City Yeoman, Humbly Sheweth That your Petitioner is Legally Seized and Possessed in fee, of and in a Certain Mess[u]age or Dwelling House and piece or parcell of Ground thereto belonging Scituate Lying and being a Little to the Northward of Blomendall in the outward of this City and your Petitioner Conceives he has Some Lands belonging to this City in his possession Contiguous, and adjoining to his said farm, Is therefore willing and Desirous to have the same Run out and Surveyed in the Presence of such Committee as this Corporation Should Think fit to appoint, and that if upon such survey it Shall appear, that any part of the Commons of this City have been taken in, or Incroached on by him, that this Corporation will Convey the Same to him in fee Simple, and that the Value of Such Incroachment be appraised and Settled by two Indifferent persons upon Oath, which appraisment so to be made, your Petitioner will be willing to allow and pay to this Corporation Your Petitioner as in Duty bound [411] Shall Ever pray. Dennis Hicks. April 11th 1754: whereupon it is ORDERD that Mr Recorder, Mr Deputy Mayor Alderman De Lancey Alderman De Peyster, Alderman Filkin, Mr Herring, Mr Lespinard Mr John Livingston Mess's Abraham and Wm Depeyster or the Major part of them be a Committee to Enquire into the Aligations of the Said petition and if Necessary to take to their assistance the City Surveyor and make Report thereof to this Board with all Convenient Speed

ORDER'D that Mr Recorder Mr Deputy Mayor, Alderman De Lancey Alderman De Peyster alderman Filkin Mr Herring Mr Lespinard Mr

John Livingston Messrs Abraham & William De Peyster or the Major part of them be a Committee to Enquire into the Rights of this Corporation in the Out ward and if Necessary to take the Like Assistance and make Report thereof to this Board with all Convenient Speed

ORDER'D that Alderman De Lancey Alderman Cruger Alderman Livingston Mr John Livingston and Mr Lespinard or the Major part of them be a Committee to Enquire into the properest Method for the Erecting and Establishing a ferry to and from this City to Staten Island or to any other Place and make Report thereof to this Board with all Convenient Speed

ORDER'D that Mr James Mills have Liberty (he having Given the preferrence to this Board pursuant to his Lease) to assigne and make over to Such person or persons as he shall Think proper the Residue and Remainder of the Term of Years to Come and unexpired of the Lease Lately Given to him by this board of a Small piece or parcell of Ground in the Commons in the outward, (he the said James Mills having agreed with this board that he and his heirs shall and will notwithstanding the assignment pay to the Treasurer or Chamberlain of the Said City the Quit now Due and hereafter to become Due During the Residue of the Term of years mentioned in the sd Lease
