ORDER'D the Mayor Issue his Warrant to the Treasurer of No 1559 this City, to pay to John Bogart Jun' Esq' or order; the Sum of Fifty pounds in full for a years interest of one thousand pounds due unto him the Twenty Sixth of September Last

ORDER'D the Like to Mrs Mary Burck or order the Sum No 1560 of Twenty five pounds in full for a years Interest, of Five hundred pounds due to her the Nineteenth of September Last

ORDER'D that Mr Recorder Alderman Scott Messrs Roosevelt and Blagg, or the Major part of them be a Committee, to Consult and fall upon proper Methods and means for Regulating of the Severall Tea Water Men, in this City and that the said Committee also take into their Consideration, the Petition of Daniell Wright together with the Severall proposals made thereon, which were Lately preferred to this Board, and make their Report thereon to this Board with All Convenient Speed

ORDER'D the Mayor Issue his Warrant to the Treasurer No 1562 of this City to pay to Mr Isaac Stoutenburgh or order the sum of Five pounds Sixteen Shillings in full of an account for work done to the poor House, Likewise the further sum of Thirty one pounds Seven Shillings in full of one other account for the Constables days and nights watches from the fourteenth of April Last to the fourteenth of this Instant October, and Likewise the further sum of Twenty Nine pounds [144] Eighteen shillings and six pence in full of one other account for takeing Care of the Citys arms, Setting the watch from the first day of October one thousand seven hundred and sixty to the first of this Instant. October and for half a years Lighting the Cittys Lamps, oyle &c. as . the said several accounts sworn to and allowed of by this Board

ORDER'D the Like to Abraham Skinner or his order the No 1563 sum of Three pounds Fourteen Shillings and nine pence in full of his account for Pursueing Greenberry Dawson a felon for Altering and Uttering Bills of Creditt of this Colony.

ORDERED the Like to Mr Jacobus Turck or order the Sum No 1564 of Nine pounds Eight Shillings and nine pence for his attending Repairing and amending the several fire Engines Belonging to this Corporation from the Seventeenth of June Last to the First of August following/.

THIS BOARD having ORDER'D the Draft of an address to his Excellencey the Honourable Robert Monckton, Captain Generall and Governour in Chief in and over the Colony of New York, and Territories thereon Depending in America, Vice Admirall of the Same and Major Generall of his Majestys forces, to be prepared; a Draft was accordingly prepared and Read in the Words following Viz!

The Humble address of the Mayor, Aldermen and Commonalty of his Majesties Antient Corporation of the City of New York, in Comnion Councill Convened

May it please your Excellencey

WE his Majesties most Dutifull and Loyall Subjects, The Mayor Alderman and Commonalty of the City of New York do with great Sincerity Beg leave to Congratulate your Excellency upon your Accession to this Government. WEE Do with the Greatest Gratitude and Thankfullness Acknowledge his most [145] Gracious Majesties Paternal Care and Affection in Constituting and appointing over us a Gentleman every way Abundantly Qualifyed to discharge the high Station. to which you are advanced, and the important Trust Reposed in your Excellency by our most Gracious Sovereign. Your Abode with us for Some Considerable Time has furnished your Excellency with many Opportunities of Becoming acquainted with the Civil and Religious Constitutions of the people you are to Govern, a favour not often Conferred upon us, and we have no Reason to Doubt that a Gentleman of

Your Excellencies abilities, has acquired a Sufficient knowledge in Both. Permit us Sir to Assure you, that your Gallant Conduct and intrepid Behaviour at the Memorable Battle, on the plains of Abraham at Quebeck, will always be Gratefully remembred not only by the present Generation but also by the Latest posterity; And we beg leave to assure your Excellency that we will, not only as a Body Politick and Corporate but also in our Respective Stations, Exert ourselves to Render your Excellen[c]ies Administration Easy and Prosperous among us. Which being agreed to was ORDER'D to be Engrossed;

The Draft of a Freedom to be preferred to his Excellencey was also Read, and agreed to by this Board and is in the words following

John Cruger Esq Mayor and the Recorder, Aldermen & Commonalty of the said City.

To all to whom these presents shall Come send Greeting, Know yee that we the Mayor Recorder Aldermen and Commonalty of the City of New York aforesaid, assembled in Common Councill, being willing to Demonstrate the great Value and Esteem we have for the person of his Excellency the Honourable Robert Monckton Captain Generall and Governour in Chief of this his Majesty's province of New York and Territories thereon depending in America and Vice Admirall of the same and major Generall of his Majesties Forces, and being Truly Sencible of the Great Honour it will be to this Corporation, to have so worthy a person a member thereof, ORDER'D that he be presented with the freedom of this Corporation, with the seal thereto, Inclosed in a Gold Box with the City Arms Engraved on the Lid thereof; These are therefore to Certify and declare that his said Excellency the Honourable Robert Monckton is hereby admitted received and allowed a freeman and Citizen of the same City; TO HAVE HOLD Enjoy and partake of all the benefits, Liberties priviledges franchises freedoms and Immunities Whatosever Granted or belonging to the same City. IN TESTIMONY whereof the said Mayor Recorder Aldermen and Commonalty have Caused the seal of the said City to be hereunto affixed the Thirty first day of October in the Second year of the Reign of our Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c and in the year of our Lord one Thousand, Seven hundred and sixty one.

ORDER'D the same be handsomly Engrossed on parchment and the Seal of this Corporation affixed thereto to be Enclosed in a Gold Box.

John Brasher of the said City Carpenter applied to this Board to be one of the publick measurers of the said City, ORDER'D that he be appointed, and he is hereby accordingly appointed one of the Publick Measurers of the said City on his taking the Usual Oath for the Due Execution of said Office

[146] ORDER'D the Mayor Issue his Warrant to the TreasNo 1565 urer of this City to pay to John Sayre or order the Sum of three pounds, in full for one Quarters Sallary due unto him as publick Whipper of this City & Ending the 1st day of November next

THE ENGROSSED ADDRESS to his Excellency the Honourable Robert Monckton Captain Generall and Governour in Chief in and over the Colony of New York and Territories thereon Depending in America, Vice admirall of the same, and Major Generall of his Majestys forces was Read and agreed to, and Signed by the Members of this Corporation and then the whole Board Waited on his said Excellencey, with the said Address, as also with the freedom of this Corporation. and the Seal thereto inclosed, in a Gold Box, which they presented to him and thereupon his said Excellencey made the following Answer Viz! Gentlemen:

I have the highest Sense of the favourable Opinion you are pleased to Express of me in your address, for which, and your kind Congratulations, I Return you my unfeigned thanks. Happy in your professions
