same time produced to this Board a Letter from his Excellency Generall Abercrombie wherein his Excellency Desires his Honour to apply to this Board for the Thousand Stand[s] of Arms belonging to this City to be Delivered over to Mr Furnis Controller of the ordinance at this City and Engages in the said Letter that they shall be Replaced from the stock daily Expected or the Value of them be paid in money and his honour having thereupon pressed for our Compliance fearing that should he be obliged to Impress them for the service it might tend to Establish a Disagreeable president: and at the same time haveing Represented to us that the want of those arms would Cause an unavoidable delay to the Great prejudice of his majestys service in one of its most Important Branches and this Board having taken his honours said application in serious Consideration have therefore Determined to Consent to the parting with the said arms, as they are Immediately wanted in the service; and the necessity of them in the City this season is uncertain: IT IS THEREFORE ORDER'D that an answer be forthwith Given in Writing to his Honour to be signed by the mayor in behalf of this Board; which being Read is in the words following, Viz!
