same time produced to this Board a Letter from his Excellency Generall Abercrombie wherein his Excellency Desires his Honour to apply to this Board for the Thousand Stand[s] of Arms belonging to this City to be Delivered over to Mr Furnis Controller of the ordinance at this City and Engages in the said Letter that they shall be Replaced from the stock daily Expected or the Value of them be paid in money and his honour having thereupon pressed for our Compliance fearing that should he be obliged to Impress them for the service it might tend to Establish a Disagreeable president: and at the same time haveing Represented to us that the want of those arms would Cause an unavoidable delay to the Great prejudice of his majestys service in one of its most Important Branches and this Board having taken his honours said application in serious Consideration have therefore Determined to Consent to the parting with the said arms, as they are Immediately wanted in the service; and the necessity of them in the City this season is uncertain: IT IS THEREFORE ORDER'D that an answer be forthwith Given in Writing to his Honour to be signed by the mayor in behalf of this Board; which being Read is in the words following, Viz! May it please your Honour

We the Mayor Aldermen and Commonalty of the City of New York in Common Councill Convened to Deliberate on your Honours application with which you was pleased to favour us in person this day do beg Leave to Inform your Honour that in Consideration of the Immediate and pressing necessity which his Majesty's service now Labours under for want of a Due supply of arms and that it is not all together Certain that this City will have occasion for the use of our arms in the Ensueing season, this Board Doth Consent to Dispose of the Thousand stand [s] of Arms belonging to this City to be paid for in Cash at the rate of Three pounds five shillings for Each Muskett, in which sum we Include the Cartouch Boxes Bayonetts, fill'd Cartridges, flints and other accutrements belonging to them; AND we hereby also beg Leave to Inform your Honour that we are Ready to deliver them to Mr Furnis or any other person properly authorized to Receive them, upon his Giving us a Receipt in Writing for the same, in order to the obtaining of a Warrant, from Generall Stanwicks for the payment of the money which he has been pleased to assure the mayor he will Grant us Immediately upon producing such Receipt, We are &c

ORDER'D that Alderman Coventry Alderman Scott Mess's Peter Clopper and Joris Jansen, or any Three of Them be a Committee to

Deliver the said Thousand stand[s] of Arms to Mr Furnis or any other person properly authorized to Receive them, and that they take a Receipt for the same in order to obtain a Warrant from Generall Stanwicks for the payment of the money/

ORDER'D that Mr Mayor Issue his Warrant to the Treasurer of this City to pay to Johannis Myer messenger and Door Keeper to this Board or his order the sum of Three pounds fifteen shillings in full for one Quarters sallary due unto him and Ending the second day of this Instant month of June.

ORDER'D by This Board that the Clerk thereof pay to William Baldwin or his order the sum of one pound ten shillings and nine pence in

full of his account for Transporting Severall Vagrants to Staten Island, and that he Charge the same to the account of this Corporation/

ORDER'D that Mr Mayor Issue his Warrant to the Treasurer of this City to pay to the Committee for Warrt Issued Building of the New Goal in this City or their order the sum of Two Thousand pounds for the further Carrying on the said Goal

ORDER'D by this Board that Mr Mayor Alderman Lespinard and alderman Coventry be a Committee to purchase five hundred of the subscription arms Lately Imported in this City and to pay for the same out of the monies, which arose by the Sale of the Citys arms to Gen!! Abercrombie and that the Remainder of the said monies be sent to England by the said Committee, for the purchasing there, for this Corporation, one Large fire Engine, one small Do and two hand Dos with

Some Buckets also four Hundred and fifty Small arms and that the said Committee order their Correspondent to Cause the same to be insured.

Messrs Ebenezer Grant and Theodorus Van Wyck the managers of the Late Lottery Exhibited (this day) to this Board their accounts, of the said Lottery whereby it appears that There is due thereon the sum of nine hundred and ninety six pounds ten shillings and Three pence ORDER'D that they pay the said Ballance to the Treasurer or Chamberlain of this Corporation and his Receipt to Them shall be a Good Discharge for the same.
