CHAPTER 75.

An Act to Enable the City of Sydney to Erect, Equip and Maintain a Public Hospital in the said City.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. The City Council, of the City of Sydney is building and authorized and empowered to build, lease or buy a building or buildings, suitable for a public hospital, and to acquire by purchase or otherwise the site necessary for such hospital.

2. The said City Council may make rules and bylaws concerning the management, maintenance, discipline and officers of, and the admission of patients to, and their discharge from, the said hospital.

3. The said Council may appoint a board of management for the said hospital, who shall have full charge of all matters concerning the said institution, and the appointment and dismissal of all officials connected therewith.

CHAPTER 76.

An Act to enable the Town of Amherst to Borrow
Money for Fire Purposes.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. The Town of Amherst is hereby authorized Authority to to borrow, on the credit of the town, a sum of money, not exceeding five thousand dollars, for the purpose of purchasing a lot of land on LaPlanche Street in the said town of Amherst, as a site for a fire station.

2. For the purpose of effecting said loan, the Debentures. Council of the said town is empowered to make and issue, subject to the provisions of "The Municipal Debentures Act," debentures in the sum of one hundred dollars or a multiple thereof, bearing interest at such rate as the Council shall determine, not exceeding, however, five per centum per annum, and redeemable at a period not exceeding thirty years from the issue thereof.

6. In order to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the debentures authorized to be issued under this Act, the Town Council shall annually include in the estimates of the sums required for the purposes of the said town, such sum as may by resolution be determined by the Council, not, however, to be less than two per cent of the amount borrowed under the provisions of this Act, and such sum shall be rated and collected in the same manner and with the same remedies as other rates and taxes.

7. This Act shall not take effect until the same is adopted by a meeting of the ratepayers of the town, duly convened in accordance with the provisions of sections 143 and 144 of "The Towns' Incorporation Act.".

Certificate. 8. A certificate under the hand of the Mayor and Town Clerk, and under the corporate seal of the town, of a resolution passed under the next preceding section of this Act, shall be conclusive evidence of the adoption of the Act, and of the passing of the resolution provided for in said section.

CHAPTER 77.

An Act to Enable the Town of Amherst to Borrow
Money to Meet Maturing Debentures.

6. Sinking Fund.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. The Town of Amherst is hereby authorized to borrow a sum of money, not exceeding in the whole, twenty thousand five hundred dollars ($20,500.00),

upon the credit of the town, as shall or may be required, for the purpose of redeeming and retiring certain debentures of the town, issued under the authority of Chapter 81 of the Acts of 1891, on the 10th day of April, A. D., 1893, and maturing on the 10th day of April, A. D., 1913, and also for the purpose of redeeming and retiring certain debentures of the Town, issued under the authority of Chapter 83 of the Acts of 1893, entitled, "An Act to amend Chapter 78 of the Acts of 1891, entitled, 'An Act to enable the Town of Amherst to borrow money," on the 5th day of July, A. D., 1893, and maturing on the 5th day of July, A. D., 1913, and also for the payments of any discounts, commissions or other expenses which may be incurred by the town in disposing of the debentures hereby authorized.
