by part of the north-western and by the north-eastern boundary of that grant and a continued south-easterly line (after crossing Salvator Rosa Glen) along the northeastern boundaries of locations to Joseph Bowden and Peter Dudgeon (crossing Forest Road) and extending to the Hobart Rivulet, thence by that rivulet in a southwesterly direction (after crossing the same) to a point intersected by a continuation of a line directly along the centre of Glen-street, then south-easterly along the centre of Glen-street to Macquarie-street, and continuing across that street to a point intersected by the centre line of Washington-street, thence southerly along the centre of that street to a point intersected by a straight line parallel to and distant Two hundred feet southwards from the southern building-line of D'Arcy-street, thence in a south-easterly direction along that parallel line with D'Arcy-street to Holbrook Place (Upper), and continuing across that roadway in the same line to a point in the centre thereof, thence in a northerly direction along the centre of Holbrook Place to a point intersected by a line in continuation of the south boundary of a grant to George Frankland, thence easterly by that continued line to the south-west angle of that grant, and by the south boundary of that said grant to the point on the western bank of the Sandy Bay Rivulet to the point of commencement.

AREA.

Commencing at a point on the boundary of the City of Hobart at the angle of Park-street with Edward-street, thence by the boundaries of that city to the Hobart Rivulet, thence easterly and northerly along the line of piles enclosing an area in course of reclamation to the point where they meet the shore, thence by a westerly line for a distance of three and a half chains or thereabouts crossing the Main Line Railway Reserve, and thence by that reserve south-westerly and north-westerly for a distance of fifteen chains or thereabouts, thence by a continued north-westerly line crossing the extension of Macquarie-street to other portion of that reserve, thence again by that reserve north-westerly for a distance of six chains or thereabouts, thence by a south-westerly line to the north-western side of the extension of Liverpool-street at a point distant seven chains or thereabouts north-easterly from its junction with Parkstreet, thence by the southern side of a road leading to Edward-street, thence by the south-eastern side of that street south-westerly to the point of commencement.

AN ACT to vest certain Land in the Warden, A.D. 1898.
Councillors, and Electors of the Rural
Municipality of Brighton for Recreation
Purposes.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been PREAMBLE.

vested in the Warden, Councillors, and Electors of the Rural Munici

pality of Brighton, under the provisions of "The Crown Lands Act, 54 Vict. No. 8. 1890," for racing purposes solely :

And whereas it is desirable to give more extensive powers to the said Warden, Councillors, and Electors, and to vest the said piece of land in them for recreation purposes, with the powers and authorities hereinafter mentioned:

Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows :

1 The land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby vested in the Land vested in Warden, Councillors, and Electors of the Rural Municipality of the Warden, &c. Brighton for recreation purposes; and all the powers and authorities of the Rural vested in Trustees appointed and elected under and by virtue of "The The Brighton for Municipality of Recreation Grounds Act, 1888," may be exercised and enjoyed by the recreation purMunicipal Council of such Rural Municipality in the same manner as poses. if the Members of such Council were Trustees appointed and elected 52 Vict. No. 17. from time to time under the provisions of that Act; and the said land shall be deemed to be a Public Recreation Ground within the meaning

of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

TOWN OF PONTVILLE.
120 ACRES.

Bounded on the south by forty-three chains and eighteen links easterly in two bearings along Espie-street, commencing at the angle of that street with Cartwrightstreet, on the east by one chain and one link northerly along Forster-street, again on the south by five ehains and ninety-nine links easterly also along that street, again on the east by twenty-two chains and seventy-seven links northerly along Seymour-street, on the north by forty-nine chains and ten links westerly along land granted to Thomas Salmon to Cartwright-street aforesaid, and thence by that street for a distance of twenty-six chains and seventeen links southerly, south-westerly, and south-easterly in several bearings to the point of commencement.

of certain Persons as Purchasers of certain
Crown Lands, and for other purposes.

E it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1 The Commissioner of Crown Lands may, with the consent of the Certain persons Governor in Council, reinstate the persons named in Schedule (1.) whose lands have hereto as purchasers of the several areas set opposite to their names, subject to the provisions of "The Crown Lands Act, 1890," and there upon such persons shall be liable to pay all instalments due upon such

lands at the date of forfeiture, and all instalments thereafter due thereon,
together with the amount of fines and charges for the cost of advertising
as provided in Section Seventy-one of the said Act, and interest at
the rate of Five Pounds per centum from the date when such instal-
ment became due: Provided that no such reinstatement shall continue
of
any effect after the First day of January, one thousand nine hundred,
unless all instalments now overdue, together with the amount of fines
and charges and interest as aforesaid, shall have then been paid.

Purchasers of Crown Lands Reinstatement.

1. That the purchaser or selector pays the prescribed expense of surveying such land.

11. That such land shall be selected in accordance with the Regulations under "The Crown Lands Act, 1890."

Provided that if any purchaser or selector fails to pay the prescribed expense of surveying such land within Six months of the passing of this Act, he shall not be permitted to avail himself of the privileges of this Section.

3 In every case in which the purchaser or selector is permitted to avail himself of the provisions of the last preceding Section, it shall be lawful for the Commissioner of Crown Lands to apply the full amount of the money paid by such purchaser or selector upon all the land originally purchased by him in and towards the payment of the purchase money due and owing upon the area set opposite to the name of such purchaser or selector in said Schedule (2.) hereto, in accordance with the provisions of the said last preceding Section, notwithstanding that the whole or any portion of such land and all or any part of the money paid as instalments thereon have been declared forfeited to the Crown.

4 Whenever any part of any land selected or purchased from the Crown has been abandoned by the selector or purchaser thereof in accordance with the provisions of this Act, the portion of the land so abandoned shall, for all purposes, be deemed to be Crown Laud, and shall be subject to the provisions of "The Crown Lands Act, 1890."

5 It shall be lawful for the Commissioner of Crown Lands to sell by private contract to Frederick Ormiston Henry, Sarah Jane Bennett, Charles Grining, Wallace Currier, and Anthony Cockerill Winter, respectively, the lots of Crown Land described in Schedule (3.) hereto for the several sums therein respectively stated, such sums to be paid in cash within Six months from the date of this Act; and upon payment of such sums of money the Governor is hereby authorised, in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, to convey and alienate the said lands to the persons respectively named herein, in fee simple or for any less estate or interest.

6 In the event of any or either the said Frederick Ormiston Henry, Sarah Jane Bennett, Charles Grining, Wallace Currier, and Anthony Cockerill Winter, respectively, not purchasing any or either the several lots of land in the manner described in the last preceding Section, it shall be lawful for the Commissioner of Crown Lands to sell such land, in accordance with the provisions of "The Crown Lands Act, 1890."

7 It shall be lawful for the Commissioner of Crown Lands to lease to Charles Butler, John McIntyre, Edward Henry Butler, and Charles William Butler the land described in Schedule (4.) hereto for a period not exceeding Ninety-nine years, subject to such conditions. and covenants as may be approved by the Minister to prevent buildings being erected thereon.
