This Board appoints Johannis Roseboom Treasurer or Chamberlain for ye year ensueing. Johannis Seger, Marchell; John Johs Cuyler, High Constable.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 15 day of October, 1753-Present, the Mayor, John Glen, John De Peyster, Jacob Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw, John Beekman, Jun', Barent H. Ten Eyck, Peter De Wandelaer.

John Glen, John De Peyster, Jacob Ten Eyck, John H. Ten Eyck, took the Oaths appointed by Law, signed the Test sworn to the due execution as Aldermen for the City and Justices of the Peace for ye City and County of Albany.

Volkert P. Douw, John Beekman, Jun', Barent H. Ten Eyck, Peter De Wandelaer, Assistants for the ensueing year, took the Oaths, signed the Test sworn to the due execution of their offices.

Harmanus Cuyler, Dirck Roseboom, Gerrit Joh Marcelis, Rynier Van Yeveren, Constables, took the Oaths signed the Tests sworn to the due execution of their offices.

John Johs Cuyler took the Oaths, signed the Test sworn to the office of High Constable.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 24 day of October, 1753-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John H. Ten Eyck, John Glen, John De Peyster, Jacob Ten Eyck, John Beekman, Jun", Barent H. Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw, Peter De Wandelaer.

Resolved by this Board, that an Order be drawn on the Treasurer, to let Wouter N. Groesbeek have six Skipple of Wheat, and charge his account therewith at 4s.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 27 day of October, 1753-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John Glen, John H. Ten Eyck, Johs Van Sante, Jacob Ten Eyck, John Beekman, Jun', Barent H. Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw. Resolved by this Board, that the South bound of the old Sarigtogen patent being oppiste Anthony Creek on the East side of Hudson River, East into the woods being forthwith run, and that the five hundred acres granted to this Corporation by the Charter to the South of the said Patent, that is to say, the South bounds being surveyed according to the directions of the said Charter.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany on the 5 day of November, 1753-Present, the Mayor, John Glen, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Jacob Ten Eyck, John De Peyster, Abraham Douw, Volker P. Douw, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Jun'.

This Board appoints the following persons Fire Masters for the ensueing year:

Marta Mynderse, William Van Sante, for the first ward.

Evert Johs Wendell, Isaac Gulyn Verplank, for the second ward
John M. Beekman, Rynier Van Alstyn, for the third ward.

N. B. Ordered, that Warrants be given to ye Fire Masters and that ye Clerk sign them, by order of the Common Councill.

James Willson produced a Commission appointing him High Sheriff for ye City and County of Albany, has takeing the Oaths appointed by Law, signed the Test and took the for the due execution of his office.

Abraham Douw, Alderman, John R. Bleeker and Abraham Yates, Assistants, are sworn to the due execution of their offices.

Pursuant to a Resolution entered in ye Minutes of Common Councill, the 27 October last past, this Board have this day agreed with John R.* Bleeker, for five pounds, to run the East Line of y old Sarigtogen Patent and survey the five hundred acres of Land, to ye words of the Charter. This Board have also appointed Sybrant E. Van Schaick, Jacob Ten Eyck and John Beekman, Jun', to go along when they think it most convenient. Resolved by this Board, that the Treasurer sell all the City Wheat at 4s. the lowest Skipple.

At a Common Councill held for ye City of Albany, at ye City Hall of the said City on the 27 November, 1753-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Johannis Van Sante, Joh H. Ten Eyck, John Glen, Volkert P. Douw, Peter De Wandelaer, John Beekman, Jun, John R. Bleeker, Abraham Yates.

This Board agreed with Sybrant Van Schaick for seven or eight morgan of wood land lying within ye bounds of Schagkook on ye East side of Tomhenick Creek, below the first high fall of water on the said Creek, and is bounded along the said Creek Rodd on a straight Line and so back to the Eastward till it shall take in seven or eight morgan; he is to have it ten years for nothing, and at ye expiration of the ten years to pay yearly and every year, five Skipple of good winter Wheat at Albany, and to give the preverence or refusal of the said Lands to the Corporation of this City if he inclined to sell the same.

Resolved by this Board, That the Clerk draw an Advertisement to send by a safe hand to be fixed up at Schagkook, that ye occupiers of the Saw Mill standing on Tomhenick Creek come forthwith and agree with the Corporation of this City, otherwise expect to be prosecuted.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at ye City Hall of the said City on the 11 day of December, 1753-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Jacob Ten Eyck, Joh Van Sante, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Abraham Douw, John Beekman, Jun", Abraham Yates, Volkert P. Douw, Peter De Wandelaer.

Johannis Knikerbaker, Jun', made application to this Board for a piece of wood Land of about twenty morgan, lying within the bounds of Schagkook along the River adjoyning the Lands of his Brother Harme Knikerbaker, which Land is to gitt surveyed upon his own cost and make return of ye Boundaries that y Indentures may drawn accordingly, for which Land ye said Johannis Knikerbaker, Jun, agrees to pay £20 current money of New York, by the delivery of y Indentures, and four Skipple of good winter Wheat of yearly Rent in the month of January or February for ever, the first payment to begin in January or February, 1763.

Ordered, That the Clerk draw an order upon the Treasurer to pay Joh Seger fifteen shillings for Robert Roseboom and Annatje Marcelis Negros for wood he bought of them, 1745.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 8 day of January, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John Glen, Jacob Ten Eyck, John De Peyster, Johs Van Sante, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Abraham Douw, Esqrs, Aldermen; John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Jun', Peter De Wandelaer, Abraham Yates, Barent H. Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw, Assistants.

Whereas the dispute between this Corporation and their Tenants of Schagkook is left to final end and judgment of Renselaer Nicoll, Esq', and Mr. Joseph Yates, this Board appoints the Mayor, Mr. John De Peyster, and Mr. John R. Bleeker to open their case before the indifferent men in behalf of this Corporation, and that ye Mayor bring with him such Indentures as then shall be required for that purpose.

Mr. Jacob Bogart delivered an Account of £5:14, which is allowed and ordered that the Clerk draw for the payment upon the Treasurer in full for his account.

The following Ordinances were this day made and published, viz:

An Ordinance for the due observation of the Lord's day and the regulateing of Negro Slaves.

An Ordinance to prevent Accidents by unruly Riding.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 4 day of April, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John De Peyster, John Glen, Johs Van Sante, Barent HI. Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw, Peter De Wandelaer, Abraham Yates.

Resolved by this Board, that Sybrant G. Van Schaick, Abraham Douw and Harmee Gansevoort, as they are going down to New York, consult with such Gentleman as they think proper for to gitt a Petition drawn in such a form as they shall be advised if necessary to lay before the General Assembly to gitt a Night Watch for ye City of Albany, and some relief for ye Debts contracted ye last War, and to endeavour to git our Petition granted, dated ye 29 May, 1753, signed and laid before the Assembly for a Stone wall round this City. And it is further Resolved the above mentioned persons eyther one or more of them sign y said Petition in behalf of ye Common Councill, and who shall pay for drawing shall be repaid at

his return.

Resolved by this Board, that ye Clerk draw an order upon ye Treasurer to let Johs Seger have eighteen Skipple of Wheat and charge his account therewith.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at ye City Hall of the said City on the 22 day of April, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Abraham Douw, John Glen, Jacob Ten Eyck, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Johs Van Sante, John De Peyster, Volkert P. Douw, Barent H. Ten Eyck, Abraham Yates, Peter De Wandelaer, John R. Bleecker.

Mr. Peter de Wandelaer, one of the members of this Board, undertook to go to Schagkook and see wether the Hosick Patentees do survey or lay out any of this City's Land there within the bounds of this Corporation's Land, and if they do, he the said Wandelaer is hereby impowered to forbid them to measure it or any part thereof, and this Corporation is to bear him harmless for so doing, and that they shall pay him for his trouble, and that the Clerk serve him with a copy of this order, and that he also write a Letter to Mr. Peter Binneway to desire him to go with said Wandelaer and assist him.

At Common Councill held for the City of Albany, at ye City Hall of ye said City on y 24 day of Aprill, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Abraham Douw, John Glen, John De Peyster, Joh H. Ten Eyck, Jacob Ten Eyck, Peter De Wandelaer, John R. Bleeker, Volkert P. Douw, Abraham Yates.

Resolved by this Board, that an order be drawn on ye City Treasurer to pay unto Jacobus Reatliff, Wouter Groesbeck, Joh Goewyck and Benjamin Goewyck, ye sum of twelve shillings for rideing a great Gun.

Mr. Barnardus Bratt, for himself, and Mr. Volkert P. Douw, for Mr. Johannis Ten Broeck, having this day agreed with this Board for the Rent for this ensuing year for the Ferry, at five pounds, that is to say, fifty shillings for ye said Bratt and fifty shillings for ye said Ten Broeck, to be ended the 4 day of April next, 1755, in following conditions.

For every person, if single, 3 Copers, which we use to call Pennis; if more than one, 2 Coppers.

Every head of Cattle 9 Copers.

Every hundred weight Bever or Skins, 4 Coppers, and so in proportion to a greater or lesser quantity.

N. B. The said Ferry men to go from sun rise to eight o'clock at night for ye above condition, as also for ye said conditions to ferry from ye 4 day of April 1754 till y 4 day of April 1755, December, January, February, excepted; then every person to agree for himself.

At a Common Councill held for ye City of Albany at ye City Hall of the said City on the 9 day of May, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Jacob Ten Eyck, Johs Ten Eyck, John Glen, Johs Van Sante, John De Peyster, Barent H. Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw, Peter De Wandelaer.

Resolved by this Board, that y City Treasurer pay Mr. Abraham Douw such a sum of money as shall appear to be due for ye Quit Rent of our Charter and the Patent granted to Henry Van Renselaer for ye Lands about Schagkook. Ordered that our Treasurer be served with a copy of this Resolution.

Ordered that ye Treasurer pay Jacobus Van Valkenburg the sum of £6 and charge his account for ye same.

An Ordinance published for cleaning and repairing the streets before ye 18 day of this instant.

Robert Lansing delivered an Account of £12:6 for repairing and materials found for a Door to the Fire Engine House, which is allowed and payment ordered.

Ordered by this Board, that y Treasurer let Robert Lansingh and Michael Bessett have each 6 Skipple of Wheat, and charge their accounts for ye same.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at ye City Hall of the said City on the 23 day of May, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Jacob Ten Eyck, Joh H. Ten Eyck, John Glen, John De Peyster, Abraham Yates, Volkert P. Douw, Barent H. Ten Eyck, John R. Bleeker. John Flensburgh delivered an Account of £2:7:6, for repairing and materials found for the Brige in the First Ward, which is allowed and ordered to be drawn upon the City Treasurer for ye payment.

Thomas Williams delivered an Account of £1:15, for his journey and other expenses done at Schagkook by order of this Corporation, which is allowed and ordered that y Clerk draw an order for ye same.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at ye City Hall of the said City on the 13 day of June, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Jacob Ten Eyck, John De Peyster, Joh Van Sante, John Glen, Barent H. Ten Eyck, Abraham Yates, Peter De Wandelaer, Volkert P. Douw. Ordered by this Board, that the City Treasurer pay unto Barent H. Ten Eyck ye sum of £3:5, which he has disbursed for 301b Powder; if he has no money to pay it wheat at 3s. 9d. Skipple.

Resolved by this Board, That the Mayor speak to Mr. Smith for his Advise concerning ye dispute between the Comonality of this City and the Patentees of Hosack, relateing the Boundaries, and in case Mr. Smith is engaged then to ask Mr. William Livingston to meet the Comon Councill when he has time, and that then ye Mayor bring with him such writings as shall be then and there required for that purpose by the Common Councill. Further Resolved that a fee of £3 be paid to whom shall be their Councill.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at City Hall of ye said City on ye 26 June, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John Glen, John De Peyster, Jacob Ten Eyck, Joh H. Ten Eyck, Volkert P. Douw, Peter De Wandelaer, Abraham Yates.

Ordered, That ye City Treasurer pay to Barent H. Ten Eyck the sum of £3 in Wheat at 3s. 9d. Skipple, for money disbursed by him to Mr. Smith for advise, pursuant to a Resolution of Common Councill the 13 day of this instant month.

At a Common Councill held for ye City of Albany on the 2 day of July, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John De Peyster, Joh H. Ten Eyck, Jacob Ten Eyck, Abraham Yates, Volkert P. Douw, John R. Bleeker.

Resolved, That his Honour the Lieutenant Governour and the Gentlemen that attended him from New York, also the Commissioners from the neighbouring Governments be asked to Dinner at the City Hall tomorrow. This Board has agreed with Robert Lateridge to prepare for the same at one shilling and sixpence for each Dinner, and that the Comonalty pay for ye Dinner at their own proper cost, and that the Liquor be at the expence of ye City.

At a Common Councill held for ye City of Albany at ye City Hall of ye said City on the 13 day of August, 1754-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Johs H. Ten Eyck, John Glen, Joh Van Sante, John De Peyster, Jacob Ten Eyck, Abraham Douw, Abraham Yates, Volkert P. Douw, John R. Bleeker.

Robert Lateridge delivered and Account of £19:3:1, wherof £2:6:9 is expended by the indifference upon the dispute with ye Tenants of Schagkook, £2:8 for Wine at y City Hall at the arrival of his Honour ye Lieutenant Governour, and £14:8:4 for y an Entertainment, out of which ye Comonalty has paid according to their Resolution entered in the Minutes ye 2 day of July last past, for the Dinners £5:6, and ordered that ye Clerk draw upon the Treasurer to pay Robert Lateridge for y ballance, £13:17:1. Resolved by this Board, that the Clerk draw an order that y Treasurer sell to John R. Bleeker 100 Skipple Wheat, and to John Gansevoort 50
