Ordered by this Board that the Treasurer let Thomas Seeger have six Skipple Wheat and sell all the Wheat he has in store for five shillings and three pence Skipple.

This day sold at Publick Vendue to the highest Bidders sundry Lotts of ground lying on a hill called Woutenbergh, on the northernmost part of the City of Albany, on the north side of Foxes Creek, each Lott to contain in breadth in front by the street and in the rear by the City Line thirty feet, and in length from the said street to the said line fourteen rodd and half of a rodd all Rynland measure, with a reserve on each Lott of ten shillings yearly and every year for ever, to be paid to the Corporation; the sale to begin by Lott N. 2 vizt:

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on 2d day of May, 1763.

The following Ordinances were this day renewed and published:

An Ordinance restraining forestalings.

An Ordinance for cleaning the Streets.

An Ordinance for regulateing Carmen.

An Ordinance of marking Bread. The assizes as follows: Every Loaf of the finest Flour to weight 3 lb and two ounces for 8 Coppers; every Loaf do. of one Ib nine ounces, 4 Coppers; every Loaf do. 12 ounces for 2 Copers.

The above Ordinance to commence the 9th day of this instant month. Ordered that the Clerk pay Mr. John Hansen ten shillings for the Laws of the Corporation of the City of New York, the said Book to remain with the Clerk in his office for the use of the Corporation.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 5th May, 1763. The Corporation having agreed with Mr. Sybrant G. Van Schaick, late Mayor of the City of Albany, to discontinue their action brought ag him in the Supreme Court upon his paying the sum of £150, for which the Mayor is to sign a Receipt in behalf of the Corporation, as follows: Albany, 5th May, 1763. Received of Mr. Sybrant G. Van Schaick the sum of £150, it being for an action commenced against him by the Corporation in the year 1716,

besides the money paid to Harmee Gansevoort before the commencement of the said action for the benifitt received for the City Seal and other advantages, which being in full of all demands.

VOLKERT P. Douw, Mayor. Ordered that the Mayor keep the above sum of £150 which he received of Mr. Sybrant G. Van Schaick till further orders.

This Board order the Clerk to write to Messrs William Livingston and William Smith, Jun', to discontinue the action brought by the Corporation against Mr. Sybrant G. Van Schaick.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 24th May, 1763. The Mayor produced two Letters from Coll. Bradstreet, the one dated the 20th instant in which he disires to know the reason of his haveing cut down a fence that was erected near the Church Pasture by one Wood: the other of the 21st instant he disires to know wether the Corporation would persevere by force and violence to prevent the Kings servants from inclosing the ground on which Wood had erected a fence, or wether they would suffer his majestyes service to be carried on without interruption. It is the opinion of this Board that the said Letters are wrote in a very disrespectful manner, as it is well known that the Corporation has at all times promoted his majestyes service to the utmost of their power and are still determined so to do.

Resolved by this Board that they will not suffer any person or persons whatsoever to inclose or improve any of the Lands of the Corporation without first obtaining their leave, and that Coll. Bradstreet be served with a copy of this Rule.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany on the 6th July, 1763.

N. 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968, Lottery Tickets paid by the Clerk to Mr. John Hansen for the Corporation, being compared with the New York publick Newspapers by this Board and were not found amongst the fortunate Tickets.

This Board ordered that the Clerk sign an order upon their Treasurer to pay the following persons, to wit:

Resolved by this Board, that the Mayor on behalf of the Mayor, Aldermen and Commonalty execute Deeds for the several Lotts of ground sold to sundry different persons at Publick Vendue on the 12th day of April, 1763, and cause the City Seal to be thereunto affixed.

The Ordinance renewed & published regulateing selling meat, &c., with a Proviso that if any of the Butchers sell meat on a Sunday shall forfeit ten shillings for every default.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 9th July, 1763. Resolved by this Board that the Patroon, Stephen Van Rensselaer, be presented with a freedom of this City.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 18th day of July, 1763.

Resolved by this Board that John Yates may have a Deed for as much ground of the Corporation as he leaves in the street and that the remainder of the ground shall be equally divided by the said John Yates and Abra

ham I. Yates.

Resolved by this Board that the Mayor or any three of the Aldermen of this City may grant a freedom to any of the Citizens born within the Limits of this City that are become to the years of twenty-one or upwards, may upon application to the Mayor or any three of the Aldermen obtain his freedom on paying two shillings for the same, and the Clerk is hereby authorised to affix the City Seal to each freedom, signed by the Mayor or any three of the Aldermen, which two shillings is to be paid to the Clerk till ordered to the contrary.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 2d day of August, 1763.

This Board allows the following Accounts, viz1:

Nine pounds sixteen shillings and sixpence of the above sum is to be paid to Peter Lansing, Esqr, for to pay the above mentioned persons, except Shipboy & Henry, and ordered that the Clerk give an order upon the Treasurer accordingly, and also to Mr. Shipboy and Henry for £1:16. At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 16th day of September, 1763.

Petition presented by Gerrit Lansingh, Jun', Anthony E. Bratt, Ahaswerus Roseboom and several other Inhabitants of the third ward, which this Board will take in Consideration.

Mr. Robert Lansing produced an Account of £8:0:8, which includes £3

for one years Sellary from the 23 June, 1762, to the 23 June last past, and remainder is for extraordinary charges and disbursements, which is allowed, and ordered that an order be given signed by the Clerk upon the Treasurer to pay the same.

Ordered that the Treasurer pay Ha: Gansevoort £1:4 deficiency on the return of the Premium on the Insurance of the fire Engine.

Whereas it was Resolved in Common Council the 18th July last past, that John Yates should have a Deed for as much ground of the Corporation as he leaves of his ground in the street, and the remainder of the ground that belongs to the City should be equally devided by the said John Yates & Abraham I. Yates, and whereas Abraham I. Yates declines, it is ordered by this Board that the said John Yates may have the ground agreeable to the Map made by Mr. John R. Bleeker for the sum of £20. At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 24th day of September, 1763.

The Ordinance regulateing the selling of meat is this day renewed and published with this Proviso, that no person or persons that shall kill meat for sale within this City shall provide himself with a good scale and weights to be marked by Mr. Robert Lansing, who is thereunto appointed, and that no Butcher shall promise meat to any person before hand and whatsoever person shall ask first shall be first served; the selling of meat to commence the 27th day of this current month and the scales and weights the first day of October next ensueing, and that on a panelty of ten shillings for every default.

Every b Beef, 4d; every b Veal, Lamb or Mutten 5d; every head and pluck of a Calf, 18d; every head and pluck of a Sheep, 9d; every head and pluck of a Lamb, 6d.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 29 day of September, 1763, ten a clock A. M.

Whereas an Ordinance formerly made by the Mayor, Aldermen and Comonalty of this City for electing two Constables in each ward in this City is expired of its own limitation, it is hereby ordained by the Mayor, Aldermen and Comonalty that at two of the clock in the afternoon of this day shall be choosen in each ward two Petty Constables, of which the Aldermen of each ward or any of them shall make their return with the rest of the City officers.

Resolved by this Board that Mayor on behalf of the Mayor, Aldermen and Comonalty execute a Deed for the ground sold to John Yates, agreable to Mr. John R. Bleekers Map, and cause the City Seal to be thereunto affixed & take a Deed from the said John Yates for so much ground as he has left in the street.

Cornelis Cadmus produced an Account of one pound four for painting the fire Engine, which is allowed by this Board and ordered that the Treasurer pay ye same.

At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany on the 29th September, 1763-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Sybt Van Schaick, Jun', Peter Lansingh, Cornelis Ten Broeck, Hendrick Roseboom, John Hansen, Henry I. Bogart, John Gansevoort, Abm Ten Broeck, Gysbert Fonda. Five a clock P. M. This day being appointed by the Charter for chosing

and electing Corporation officers, the following persons were chosen to serve the ensueing year according to the directions of the Charter:

First Ward-Sybrant Van Schaick, Jun, and Peter Lansingh, Aldermen; Henry I. Bogart & Stephen Schuyler, Assistants; Thomas Seger & Peter Hylton, Constables.

2d-John Cuyler & John R. Bleeker, Aldermen; Gysbert Fonda & John Ja Beekman, Assistants; Michael Besset, Jun', & Philip Wendell, Constables.

3d-Cornelis Ten Broeck & Abraham Yates, Jun', Aldermen; John Gansevoort & Abm Ten Broeck, Assistants; Gerrit H. Visher & Andries Goewyck, Constables.

This Board appoints John Roseboom for their Chamberlain; Gerrit H. Vischer, High Constable; Johannis Seeger, Marshall.

Thomas Williams produced an Account of £25:11:6, expended upon the Kings Birth day and on the Proclamation of Peace, which is allowed and ordered that the Clerk sign an order on the Treasurer to pay the same.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 13th day of October, 1763.

The Mayor laid the sum of £150 on the board which he received of Syb G. Van Schaick the 5th May last, ordered that the Mayor pay £32:14 to the several persons out of the said sum which he has done accordingly, the remainder is £117:6, which is to remain with the Mayor till further order.

Whereas on the 12th day of Aprill last past several Lotts of ground was sold at Publick Vendue to several different persons and amongst others the Lots N. 12, 13 and 15 where sold to Mr. Abraham Ten Broeck, and as he this day acquainted this Board that he bought Lott N. 12 for Mr. John H. Ten Eyck, and Lott No. 15 for Joseph Adam Yates, and Lott N. 13 for himself, wherefore is ordered by this Board that the Clerk draw separate Deeds for the above described Lotts.

Resolved by this Board that the Mayor in behalf of the Mayor, Aldermen and Commonalty execute Deeds for the said Lots of ground and cause the City Seal to be thereto affixed.

An Account of Mr. Abraham Yates produced and allowed by the Board, £9:16.

Allowed to Jacobus Reatliff for ringing the Bell, £5.

Resolved that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer to pay the same. Volkert P. Douw, Esq, produced an Account of Lycences and Freedoms granted by him since the 14th day of October, 1762, amounting to £110:2, one half for the use of the Corporation and the other half for the use of the Mayor, which whole sum is to remain with the Mayor till further order.

Whereas it appears that Mr. Adam Yates has ground in his possession belonging to this City which was laid out for a street, and was requested to take and remove his fence, and in case he does not comply with the said request, Resolved by this Board that the Mayor, Peter Lansingh, Esq, and John Gansevoort order the Marshall to cut down the fence.
