Harmanus Schuyler, Esq, produced a Commission appointing him High Sheriff of the City and County of Albany, took the Oaths appointed by Law, sign'd the Test, sworn to the due execution of his office.

Jacob Ten Eyck, Cornelis Ten Broek, Barent H. Ten Eyck, Frans Pruyn, Volkert Douw and Peter Lansing, being chosen Aldermen for the ensueing year, took the Oaths appointed by Law, sign'd the Test, and sworn to the due execution of their offices.

Jacob Van Schaick, Abraham Ten Broek, John Hansen, Marte Mynderse and Henry I. Bogart, Assistants, took the Oaths appointed by Law, signd the Test, and sworn to the due execution of his office.

James Hallenbeck, Thomas Seeger, John Scott, Nicholas Marselis, Jacob G. Lansingh, and Tunis Visher, Constables, took the Oaths appointed by Law, signed the Test, sworn to the due execution of their offices.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 19th day of October, 1761-Present, the Mayor, Cornelis Ten Broeck, Jacob Ten Eyck, Frans Pruyn, John Hansen, Marte Mynderse, Abm Ten Broeck, Henry I. Bogart, Jacob Van Schaick.

Resolved by this Board, That no freedom be given to a Merchant under £3:12, and a Tradsman £1:16, and that the Mayor shall have out of each freedom twelve shillings for his own use, and the remainder to be returned to the Clerk who is to have one shilling to affix the Seal to each freedom, or any other instrument.

It is further Resolved that no Lycense be given to any Tavern keepers then that is sealed with the City Seal, for which they are to pay twenty shillings, one half thereof to the Mayor and the other half to be returned to the Clerk for the use of the City, deducting one shilling to the Clerk for the Seal and keeping an exact Account.

The Inhabitants of the second ward have made application to this Board for leave to bring and lay a drain in the well opposite the house of Mr. John Beekman from the hill. Resolved that they have leave accordingly to lay it in such a manner as they shall think proper without hindrance to any other drain.

Claes Speck agreed with this Board for forty shills for four years past, and henceforth twenty shillings yearly for the Lott of ground he dwells on.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 23d October, 1761.

John Ten Eyck, Esqr, produced a Commission appointing him Recorder for the City of Albany, took the Oaths appointed by Law, signed the Test and sworn to the due execution of his office.

Ordered that the Clerk give an order upon the City Treasurer to pay Jacobus Reatliff five pounds for ringing the Bell last year and sign the same, by order of Comon Councill.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 26th day of October, 1761-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Peter Lansing, Frans Pruyn, Cornelis Ten Broeck, Volkert Douw, Jacob Ten Eyck, Abm Ten Broeck, Henry I. Bogart, Jacob Van Schaick, Marte Mynderse, John Hansen.

Resolved that the freedom of this City be presented to the Reverend Eliardus Westerlo, Minister of the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church in the City of Albany, out of a particular regard this Board has towards his person and function, and the unwearied deligence in discharge of his duties of his caling since his arrival in this City: That the Mayor sign the said freedom in behalf of this Board and that the Clerk affix the City Seal to it and sign his name as Clerk thereto. The Mayor to deliver the same this evening in the presence of this Board.

Resolved that any three of the Aldermen of this City shall have the same liberty of granting freedoms as the Mayor and under the same restrictions made at Common Council the 19th instant.

Ordered that the Clerk shall not receive any money of Sybrant G. Van Schaick, late Mayor, for Freedoms, Lycences or any other moneys which of right belong to this City, but by order of Common Councill.

Resolved that Volkert P. Douw & Abraham Ten Broeck, Esqrs, imploy Mr. William Smith, Jun', and William Livingston, or any other two Gent they shall think proper in behalf of this Board to prosecute Syb1 G. Van Schaick, late Mayor of this City, for the sum of £500 in the next Supreme Court to be held for the Province of New York, for money he received for Freedoms, Lycences and other monies which of right belongs to this Corporation. This Board also engages to pay such expences as may accrue in this suit to such persons who shall be imployed in their behalf for that purpose, and that the Clerk deliver a copy of this Resolution to the above named Gentlemen.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 29th October, 1761. In consequence of a Resolution of this Board the 10th day of September last, the Mayor executed a Deed for the purpose thereby intended, but some error haveing been made in the same, it is therefore Resolved that a Deed be drawn mending said error, which was accordingly done and delivered after the City Seal was thereunto affixed, by order of this Board.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany on the 7th day of November, 1761.

Mr. Gysbert Fonda being chosen Assistant for the second ward, took the Oaths appointed by Law, signed the Test and sworn to the due execution of his office.

Jacobus Reatliff produced an Account of nine shilling, which is allowed and ordered that the Clerk give an order upon the Treasurer to pay the

same.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 30th day of November, 1761.

This Board appoints the following persons Fire Masters for the ensueing year, to wit:

Peter Ryckman, Henry I. Wendell, for the first ward.
Rynier Van Yveren, Hendrick Pruyn, for second ward.
Maas Bloemendal, Cornelis Van Veghte, for third ward.

Ordered that Warrents be given to the Fire Masters of each ward accordingly and that the Clerk sign the same, by order of Comon Council. At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 18th January, 1762.

This Board allows the following Accounts and orders the Clerk to draw upon the Treasurer to discharge the same:

Whereas a Resolution made in Comon Council the 19th day of October last that no Lycense should be given under twenty shillings, which this Board is now of opinion is to much for some people, wherefore they now leave it in the discretion of the Mayor and Aldermen to take less if they

see cause.

Ordered that the Clerk sign the Letter in behalf of the Corporation which is day wrote in Councill to their attorneys at New York relateing the affair against Sybrant G. Van Schaick, Esq.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 26 March, 1762. Resolved by this Board, that Harmee Gansevoort, Clerk of the Corporation, purchase a Bill of Exchange of £55 sterling, payable to John George Liebenrood, merchant in London, and that the said Gansevoort do order the said Liebenrood to send the Corporation one Fire Engine of the fifth seize, invented by Rd Newshan, the first safe oppertunity and make full insurance thereon. This Board have agreed to give a note for the money and that the Mayor sign the same in behalf of the Corporation with five cent interest till the same is paid.

Petition presented by Mr. Edgar, Mr. McComb and Mr. Henry, which this Board takes in consideration.

This Board have rented to William Hogan, Jun', a peice of ground of thirty foot on the front & about fifteen foot broad, lying and being in the first ward of this City opposite his dwelling house and now in his sion, for twenty shillings a year.

This Board have also rented and to farm let to John Cornelis the house and lott of ground where he now dwels in, lying and being in the first ward of this City, having on the South the Block house called N. 1, on the North the ground belonging to this Corporation, on the East the Stockadoes, and on the west the high way that leads to the Church parster, to commence the first day of October last past for and during the term of six years at rate of £1:10 a year, and ordered that the Clerk draw the Inden

ture and the Mayor sign the same and order the City Seal to be thereunto affixed in behalf of the Corporation.

A Petition being presented by several of the Inhabitants of the Yonkers street, which taken into consideration.

At Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 3 day of April, 1762.

An Account of Peter Martin being produced which this Board allows, and orders the Clerk to give an order to pay the same, to wit, £9:10.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 14 day of April, 1762.

An Ordinance renewed and published for cleaning the streets by the 25th of the current month of April.

An Account of Henry I. Bogart being produced and allowed by this Board, and orders the Clerk to draw upon the Treasurer to pay him £3:13:4,

A Petition being presented in Common Council on the 26th day of March last, by Mr. David Edgar and others for the Ground on which the Store House opposite to Mr. John McCombs stands, which is rejected, but will readyly assist in any other peice of ground convenient for their purpose that is no detriment to the publick.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 27th day of April, 1762.

An Ordinance regulating Cartmen renewed and published.

The Mayor agreed with the Board to give Lycense to Cartmen for twelve shillins apeice and that one shilling thereof for puting the Seal, the other eleven shillings to be devided, one half to the use of the Mayor and the other half for the use of the Corporation.

Resolved by this Board that the major part of the Corporation may agree with Mr. Johs Ten Broeck and Barnardus Bratt, Jun', for the Ferry.

This Board have rented and to farm let the house and lot of ground on the Gallows hill where Jacob Buljin late dwelld in to Lambert Cool for three pounds lawful money of New York year; Mr. Jacob H. Ten Eyck has promis'd to pay for the first year.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 1st day of May,

An Ordinance made and published restraining forestallers.

Ordered that the Clerk sign an order to pay Thomas Seeger eight shillings; to Peter Lansingh, Esq', twelve shillings.

Resolved and ordered that none of the Shomakers that have their Tenpitches in the Foxes Creek throw none of their old Tan in or near said Creek, on pain of forfeiting six shillings for each default.

Ordered that Abraham Witbeck remove the ashes from behind his Lott so that the Aldermen of the ward approve of the same, in six days after receiving Copy of this Rule, on pain of three shillings for every day he does not comply with this order, and he be served with a copy of this rule.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 17th May, 1762— Present, the Mayor, John Ten Eyck, Esqr, Recorder, Jacob Ten Eyck, Cornelis Ten Broeck, Volkert Douw, Peter Lansing, John Hansen, Gysbert Fonda, Henry I. Bogart.

Resolved by this Board, that if any of the members of the Corporation of this City upon duly warning given doe not attend, shall for every such neglect forfeit the sum of twenty shillings for the use of the Corporation, reasonable excuses excepted, which is to be adjusted by the Board then present.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 21st day of June, 1762.

Resolved by this Board, that all Agreements heretofore made and that now may be in force between this Corporation and Abraham Ten Broek, Esq', respecting the cutting of Fire wood and Timber in the Manner of Renselaerwyck be dissolved and made void, and is hereby disannulled, disolved and made void accordingly by the mutual consent & approbation of the said Corporation and the said Abraham Ten Broeck.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany on the 28th day of June, 1762.

The Humble Address of the Mayor, Aldermen and Commonality of the City of Albany:

To his Excellency the Honourable Robert Monckton, Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over the Province of New York and the Territories depending thereon in America and Vice Admiral of the same, and Major General of his Majesty's Forces.

May it please your Excellency:

Your Excellency's sudden departure from your Government in obediance to his Majestys commands as General and Director of an important and very interesting Expedition against Martinico immediately after taking the administration upon you, prevented us of addressing your Excellency before upon the occasion, permit us now tho late to express our sentiments of joy and satisfaction upon our most gracious sovereign appointing a Gentleman so conspicuous in abilities and calculated and disposed to render a people easy and happy under his administration, a person whose memory will never be forgot in the latest period of time in the Northern parts of this Province for his conduct and military skill in the reduction of Quebec a place till then almost invulnerable, in the conquest of which your Excellency vastly contributed.

It was with much regret we heard of your Excellencys departure from your Seat of Government to places remote, that exposed your Excellency to innumerable dangers and difficulties, the hazards of the Seas, the unwholesomeness of the Climate and the chances of Battle rendered your Excellency liable to manifold accidents, but the Laurels you have acquired and the advantages the publick have gained sufficiently atone for your absence, and it is with redoubled joy that we hear of your Excellencys returning triumphantly to the Metropolis of your Government to take the administration.

The strength of the Fortresses as well as the consequences of their reduction with the amazing cilirety of the defeat with so little loss of Blood,
