hereof presumes to sell any Rum or other strong Liquors to any Soldier or Soldiers whatsoever, or to any other person for their use, and in case any person or persons shall be convicted before the Mayor, Recorder, or one of the Aldermen, of selling any Rum or other distilled Liquor as afores to any Soldier or Soldiers, she or they so offending shall for the first offence forfeit the sum of twenty shillings current money of New York, and for every like offence after, the sum of forty shillings, to be levyed by distress and sale of the offenders goods, one half for the benifit of the informer and the other half for the use of the City. Dated in Albany, this seventh day of December, 1756.

Resolved, That an order be drawn upon the Treasurer to pay Mr. Peter Silvester £5 and that ye Clerk sign the same.

John G. Roseboom, Esq, produced a Commission for Recorder of the City of Albany, took the Oath appointed by law, signd the Test, and sworn to the due execution of the office of Recorder and Justice of the Peace for the City and County of Albany.

An Ordinance published to prevent Accidents by unruly Riding. At a Common Councill held for City of Albany on the 12 day of March, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Johs Ten Eyck, Johs Van Sante, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Abraham Douw, Abraham Yates, Hendrick Bleeker, Jacob Lansing, Philip J. Schuyler, Ha: Gansevoort. Resolved by this Board, That the Clerk sign an order upon the Treasurer to let Johs Seger have nine Skipple of Wheat and charge his account with the price currant for the same.

An order published for cleaning the streets.

Mr. Peter Yates presented a Petition in Common Councill, which is taken into consideration for a peice of Land in the Foxes Creek.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the the said City on the 30 day of June, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Johs H. Ten Eyck, John R. Bleeker, Volkert P. Douw, Johs Van Sante, Abraham Douw, Johs Beekman, Jacob Ja: Lansingh, Henry Bleeker, Jun', Ha: Gansevoort.

This day sold to William Van Sante and John Prys a Lott of ground scituate, lying and being in the First Ward of the City of Albany, on the south side of the Rutten Kill and adjoining to the said Kill, beginning in a certain point which is ninety feet distant from the north east corner of the house of Johannis Wyngard, bearing from the said north east corner the same course as the Roa of house stands where the said Johs Wyngard now dwells and runs from the said Point with the same course forty feet to the said Rutten Kill, and then westerly along the said Kill keeping the same breath of forty feet till it shall be one hundred and thirty-seven feet on a streight line, all English measure, for which Lott of ground as above described the said William Van Sante and John Prys agree to pay forty pounds New York money by the delivery of the Deed.

Resolved, That the Mayor in the name of the Mayor, Aldermen and Comonalty, execute a Deed for said Lott of ground and cause the City Seal to be thereunto affixed.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 6 day of July, 1757-Present, the Mayor, John Bleecker, Johs H. Ten Eyck, John Beekman, Johs Van Sante, Abraham Douw, Volkert P. Douw, Jacob Ja: Lansing, Henry Bleeker, Ha: Gansevoort.

This day sold to Gerrit Van Sante, Jun', a piece of Ground scituate, lying and being in Third Ward of the City of Albany, near the water side on the east of the street, beginning at a certain point which is distant thirty feet on an easterly course from the north east corner of Sr William Johnson Lott, and then running northerly twenty-five feet along the street, and so back towards the River, carrying the full breath of twenty-five feet till it shall be twenty feet backwards towards the River, all English measure; which piece of ground as above described the said Gerrit Van Sante, Jun, agrees to pay £37:10, New York money, by the delivery of the Deed.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany on the 21 day of July, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Johs H. Ten Eyck, John Beekman, Johs Van Sante, John R. Bleeker, Henry Bleeker, Jacob Lansing, Phil: J. Schuyler, Ha: Gansevoort.

Mr. Gerrit Lansing, Jun', produced his Account for reapairing the Engine house, amounting to 7s 9d, which is allowed and ordered that the Treasurer pay the same.

Mr. Neeltje De Foreest produced an Account for Candles found for the Guards from the 3 day of July 1756 to the first day of July 1757, amounting to £31:18, which is allowed by this Board and ordered that the Clerk pay the same out of the money arising by the sail of a Lott ground sold William Van Sante and John Prys, and the remainder to be paid to the City Treasurer.

Mr. Volkert P. Douw delivered an Account fore repairing the Bridge near his house, amounting to £11:12:6, ordered the Treasurer pay ye same. At a Comon Councill held for the City of Albany, at the City Hall of the said City on the 20 day of August, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Volkert P. Douw, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Phil John Schuyler, Henry Bleeker, Jur, Jacob Ja: Lansingh. The Ordinance made and published the 22 day of June, 1756, is now renewed with the following regulations, viz:

For every Ib of all kind of meat 4d; for every head and pluck of a Calf 1s. 6d; for every head and pluck of a Sheep 9d; for every head and pluck of a Lamb 6 pence.

And it is furthered ordered that every of the Butchers that shall kill and sell meat within the jurisdiction of this City shall provide himself with a good scale and weights; the weights to be marked by Mr. Robert Lansing, who is thereunto appointed by this Board, and that no Butcher shall promise meat to any person before hand, and whatever person shall ask first for meat at the place where the meat is sold shall be first helped to it, on penalty of 10s. for every offence.

An Ordinance published for marking of Bread according to the rates prices hereafter mentioned vizt: a Loaf of finest flower 4 lb 12 ounces for 8 Coppers; a Loaf do. 2lb 6 ounces for 4 Coppers; a Loaf do. 1 lb 3 ounces for 2 Coppers. To be in force the 25 day of August, 1757.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on 29 day of September, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Volkert P. Douw, Abraham Douw, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Hendrick Bleeker, Abraham Yates, Jun', Ha. Gansevoort.

This day being appointed by the Charter for choosing and electing Corporation Officers, the following persons were chosen to serve for the year ensueing, according to the direction of the Charter, viz1:

First Ward.-Johannis Van Sante and Volkert P. Douw, Aldermen ; Barnardus Bratt and Philip John Schuyler, Assistants; Joseph Wells and Peter Cranell, Constables.

Second Ward.-John R. Bleeker and John Beekman, Aldermen ; Jacob Ja: Lansing and Hendrick Bleeker, Jun', Assistants; Henry Bostwick and Ebenezer Roberson, Constables.

Third Ward.-Abraham Douw and Johs H. Ten Eyck, Aldermen ;

Harme Gansevoort and Abraham Yates, Jun', Assistants, Daniel Bratt and John Goewyck, Constables.

This Board appoint John Roseboom, City Treasurer; Johannis Seeger, Marshall; Daniel Bratt High Constable.

Bleeker, John Beekman, Johannis H. Ten Eyck, Henry Bleeker, Jun', Jacob Ja: Lansingh, Abraham Yates, Jun, Phil John Schuyler, Ha: Gansevoort.

Johs Van Sante, Abraham Douw, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman and Johs H. Ten Eyck, being chosen Aldermen for the ensueing year, took the Oaths appointed by Law, signed the Test and were sworn to the due execution of their said office.

Henry Bleeker, Jun Jacob Ja: Lansingh, Abraham Yates, Jun', Philip John Schuyler, and Ha: Gansevoort, Assistants, took the Oaths, signed the Test and sworn to the due execution of the said office.

Daniel A. Bratt took the said Oaths, signed the Test and sworn to the due execution of the office of High Constable.

Henry Bostwick, John Goewyck, Joseph Wells and Peter Crannell, took the Oaths, signed the Test and sworn to the due execution of the office of Constable.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 15 day of November, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Abraham Douw, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Johs Van Sante, Volkert P. Douw, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Henry Bleeker, Jun', Jacob Ja: Lansing, Ha. Gansevoort.

This Board appoints the following persons Fire Masters for this City for the year ensueing, to wit:

Daniel Hallenbeek, Maas Bloemendal, for the first ward.
Isaac Douw Fonda, Jacob Bleeker, for the second ward.
Marte Winne, Anthony E: Bratt, for the third.

Ordered that Warrants be given to the Fire Masters of each ward accordingly and that the Clerk sign the same in behalf of the Corporation. At a Common Councill held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 22 day of November, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Recorder, Johannis Van Sante, Volkert P. Douw, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Johs H. Ten Eyck, Abraham Yates, Jun', Hendrick Bleeker, Jun', Harme Gansevoort.

Upon application of the Butchers of this City it is ordered and resolved that they shall sell all kind of meat at five pence b, excepting Lamb, till further ordered.

John R. Bleeker, Esqr, produced an account of Isaac D. Fonda of three pounds ten shillings and two pence for making Ladders for the City.

Volkert P. Douw, Esq produced an account of sixteen shillings for repairing the Bridge between Joseph Yates and Thomas Williams.

Resolved by this Board, That orders be given to the Treasurer to discharge the above account, and that the Clerk sign the same in behalf of the Corporation.

Ordered that the Clerk sign an order upon the Treasurer to pay Johannis Seger three pounds, and charge his account with the same.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany on the 24 day of November, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Volkert P. Douw, Johs H. Ten Eyck, John R. Bleeker, John Beekman, Abraham Yates, Jun', Hendrick Bleeker, Jun', John Ja. Lansing, Ha: Gansevoort.

Resolved by this Board, that the Petition presented to the Earl of Loudon the 11th day of this instant month of November, be entred on record, which runs as follows, viz' :

That your Lordships memorialists being informed that your intention is to quarter a large body of Troups in this City, and that the Inhabitants must find them with Beding and other necessaries, we beg leave most humbly to represent to your Lordship the great hardship it will be for the Inhabitants to find them therewith, as many of them can hardly find fuel and covering for themselves, which consequently will cause great difficulty to some, and be the intire ruin of others, we therefore most humbly pray that your Lordship will be pleased to metigate said order, and lessen the number of Troups to be quartered, and we beg leave further to assure your Lordship that we shall at altimes exert our utmost abilities to make every thing as easy and convenient for his Majesties service as our circomstances will admitt off, and it shall be our constant endeavour on all occasions to cultivate a good understanding, between the Troups & Inhabitants that no detriment happens to his Majesties service, from any disputes that might unavoidably happen. All which we most humbly submit to your Lordship, beg that your Lordship will take our case into consideration, and do theirin as in your great wisdom your Lordship judges proper.

Resolved, That the Clark give Johs Seeger an order on the Treasurer to pay him three pounds and charge it to his account, and that Clerk sign the said order in behalf of the Common Council.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on the 3 day of December, 1757-Present, the Mayor, Johs H. Ten Eyck, John Beekman, John R. Bleeker, Abraham Yates, Phil: J. Schuyler, Ha: Gansevoort.

Whereas Daniel Halenbeek having been appointed Fire Master for the First Ward of this City, and being informed that he is removed in the country, this Board appoints Isaac Fryer Fire Master for the year ensueing together with Maas Bloemendall who being already appointed for that

purpose.

Resolved by this Board, That two market houses be built, one in the Frst ward and one in the Third ward of this City, and that the Comon Council with the Aldermen speak to some persons that will undertake to find the Timber and Carpenters work, and that they shall satisfy them for so doing.

Resolved by this Board, that three Carpenters be employed to build a Bridge across the Normans Creek for the ease of the Inhabitants in getting fire wood, the expenses to be paid by the Corporation.
