Cremin, of Hart- Of the Special Committees, Dr. Calef reported for the Medico-Legal Committee, practically as follows: His report was one of progress simply. Individually he had been inquiring into the subject. He appreciated that there were difficulties. He had received and sent more than a hundred and fifty letters and had accumulated fifty pamphlets. These were from every state and territory in the Union. In thirteen states some action had been taken. The matter had been brought before their medical societies. In four states measures concerning the subject had been taken in the Legislature. In three of these four the project had failed. He had on file these pamphlets with copies of the proposed legislation. The whole matter was a difficult one because the changes suggested conflict with the common law. All hope that something may be done and expect ultimately the result. will be accomplished. The report was accepted as a report of progress.
