you are hearby Required in the Name of the goverment and People of this State to Leve and Colect of the Several Parsons named in the List hearwith Committed unto you Eatch one his Respective Proportion there in Set Down

the Sum Total of Sutch Sutch Lists Being as By an act of the General Court of Said State for the vse of the united States of anarica and for the use of the County of hillsborough in Said State and the Remainder for the use of this Town for for the Corrant year and you are to pay or Cause to be paid in to the Treasurey of Said State on or Before the first Day of Janvary next the Sum of one thousand one hundred and Sixty nine Pounds one Shilling and three pence in Currant Continantal money. and you are Requested to pay as great a Part of the afore Said Sum into the Treasurey afore Said as Soon as Possible you Can as we are Called upon By the Committye of Said State for for money to Purchas Clothing for the Continential Solders

and you are to Pay or Cause to Be paid into the Treasurey of the County of hillsborough the Sum of fifteen Pounds Eleven Shillings and nine Pence L. m. on or Before the twenty Fifth Day of December next and the Remainder of the first Collum you are to pay to us or our order on or Before the twenty Second Day of february next and the tax on the nonresidents Land you are to Pay to us on our order on or Before the twenty Second Day of february next and if aney

parson or parsons named in these Lists Shall neglect or Refuse to Pay the Sum or Sums they are Respectively assessed you are to observe and follow the Directions of the Law of this State in Levying and Colecting the Same

Given under our hand and Seal at Darryfield this twenty Second Day of october 1779 and in the forth year of of our Independence and By vartue of the above warrant ye are Requered to Colect the Corn that is assessed upon the Several Inhabitants of this Town Being the Second Collumn in the first List and Deliver or Cause to Be Delivered to us or where Ever we Shall order the Same to be Delivered By the first Day of January next*

the Committy made Report to the Town of there Settlement with John Dickey as Constable for the Town of Darryfield and he appears according to the Report of the Committy to Be Clear of all his Rerigis of the List of Rates Committed to him for the year 1778. the town voted to Except of the Report

*Great annoyance was given the colonists through the scarcity of a currency with which to carry on affairs. In this dilemma a system of barter became common, and which prevailed for a considerable period. Even the Indian's coin, "wampum," was at one period legal tender. Three of the shells of a fish called by him poquahock were considered equal to an English penny. A string of these six feet long was valued at five shillings. Later and more frequently the marketable products of the farmer were taken, these being enumerated in the tax list for a part or all of the sum assessed against the individual. If cash was paid, a discount of one fourth to one third was usually made.ED.

we Command you in the Name of the Goverment and People of this State that you warn the Inhabitents and freeholdors of the town of Darryfield Quallifyed By Law to vote In town. meetings that they assemble and meet at the meeting House

in Darryfield on Thursday the twenty fifth Day of November Instent at one of the Clock in the afternoon to act on the following articles (viz)

1ly To Choose a moderator to Regulate Said meeting

2dly To Choose a Committy to adopt Some mode that is Likely to give Stability to our Sinking Currancy and to Regulate the Prices of Sutch Articles as are Comenly Bought and Sold amongst us for the Benefit of the united States in Genéril and of this Town in perticuler

make Proper Return of this warrant and your Doings unto us on or Before the Day for holding Said meeting as you would avoid the Penalty of the Law
