WHERE CHAPTER XVI. An ACT for the relief of John Scarlet: HEREAS it appears on the petition of John Scarlet of Chester county, that on the twentieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred, a certain James Allen, at his request purchased for him at sheriffs sale, two tracts or parcels of land situate in Little-Britain township, in Lancaster county, the one containing eighty acres and the other one hundred and ninetyfive acres, sold as the property of John Jones, for the sum of five hundred and eleven pounds one shilling, that on the fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred, the sheriff of Lancaster county executed a deed to the said James Allen for the said two tracts of land, and afterwards received from the said John Scarlet, by the hands of the said James Allen the money due and payable therefor: And whereas the said James Allen afterwards died without having executed a reconveyance to the said John Scarlet, or any instrument of writing upon which the courts of law would be authorized to direct such a deed to be made by the Representatives of the said James Allen: Therefore, SECTION I. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the right, title and interest of John Scarlet to the said two tracts of land shall be as good and effectual in law to all intents and purposes as if the same had been completed by the sheriff tain tracts of of Lancaster county to him instead of the said James Allen. WHEREAS it appears that John Jordan of the borough of Lancaster, is possessed of a new loan certificate in the name of Michael* McGinnis, No. 14722, issued under the act of March the first, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-six, for nine pounds nineteen shillings and eight pence, which certificate at the time it was redeemable by law, and until lately was mislaid, and supposed to be lost, so that the said John Jordan has * wanting in the original. received no compensation for the same, and it also duly appears that the said certificate has never been redeemed: Therefore, SECTION I. An ACT to authorize and empower Lewis Rush of the city of Philadelphia, to sell and convey a certain piece of ground therein mentioned. W HEREAS it appears to the legislature, that by an act passed on the twenty-second day of March, one thousand eight hundred and nine, a company was incorporated for the purpose of erecting a bridge across the river Schuylkill at FlatRock, in Roxborough township, in the county of Philadelphia: And whereas it is required by the said act of incorporation, that the consent of the owners of the ground whereon the said bridge was to be erected should be obtained, previously to the erection of any work or works, and it has since been ascertained that a part of the ground whereon the said bridge is to be erected, is owned by minors, who are therefore incapable of making a conveyance: And whereas the interposition of the legislature, is necessary to enable Lewis Rush, the father of the said minors, to make a conveyance of the said ground, which he is willing if authorized to do: Therefore, to sell and convey cer SECTION I. An ACT to enable the administrators of Mark Deary, late of the borough of Pittsburgh, deceased, to convey a certain lot of ground to the purchaser thereof. WHEREAS it appears that Mark Deary, late of the bo rough of Pittsburgh, deceased, did in his lifetime sell to his brother Francis Deary, in fee simple, á certain lot of ground in the said borough of Pittsburgh, and that the said Mark Deary received full payment or compensation for the same, of which sale there is no written evidence sufficient to enable istrators of Mark Deary authorized to convey a to-Francis Deary. the administrators of the said deceased, to make and execute a deed to the purchaser of the said lot: Therefore, SECTION I. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, The admin That William Gormly, Thomas Hazelton and John Gill, administrators of the estate of Mark Deary, deceased, be, and they are hereby authorized and empowered by a sufficient deed or deeds in law to convey, release and assure to Francis Deary, his heirs or aslot of ground signs, a lot of ground in the borough of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny, on Virgin-alley, numbered four hundred and fifteen, which the said Francis Deary, purchased from the said Mark Deary in his lifetime, together with all the right, title, interest, property and estate whatever, in law or equity which the said Mark Deary had in his lifetime to the said lot of ground, with the appurtenances, which deed or deeds, when executed by the said administrators, shall be as good and effectual in law to all intents and purposes as if the said Mark Deary had fully executed such contract, and conveyed the said lot of ground to the purchaser in his lifetime. HEREAS it has been represented to the legislature, by a petition of Augustine Smith, that he has been resident in the United States, about seventeen years, that his family name is Gallitzen, but having assumed the name of Smith, he became a naturalized citizen under that name. Therefore, SECTION I.
