HISTORY OF ORGANIZATION, CONSTRUCTION, LEASING AND CONSOLIDATION OF LINES NOW OPERATED BY YOU, AND STATUTES AUTHORIZING THE SAME.

Date of charter, June 27, 1877.

Is the charter a special act of the legislature, or was the company incorporated under the general laws of the state? Incorporated under general laws of the state, chapter 30, laws of 1876, and acquired all the franchises conferred under special act of 1861, chapter 1, act March 8, 1861.

Has any change been made in the mileage of your road in this state during the past year; if so, give a detailed statement showing what changes have been made and how the present mileage is made up. Kettle River Railroad, from Sandstone Junction to Mineral Springs, five miles, was purchased from Kettle River Railroad Company November 1, 1887. Duluth Short Line Railway from Thompson to West Superior, 17 miles, construction commenced January, 1887, and nearly completed June 30, 1888. Road leased by St. Paul & Duluth Railroad Company for ninety-nine years from Sept. 1, 1886. Present mileage is made up of the St. Paul & Duluth Railroad, St. Paul to Duluth, owned, 155 miles in Minnesota. Cloquet branch, Northern Pacific Junction to Cloquet, owned, 6 miles in Minnesota. Grantsburg, Rush City & St. Cloud Railroad, Rush City to St. Croix river, owned, 5 miles in Minnesota. Vol. V-62.

St. Cloud, Grantsburg & Ashland Railroad, St. Croix river to Grantsburg, 12 miles in Wisconsin. Taylors Falls & Lake Superior Railroad, Wyoming to Taylors Falls, leased, 204 miles in Minnesota. Stillwater & St. Paul Railroad, Stillwater to White Bear, leased, 12 miles in Minnesota. Minneapolis & Duluth Railroad, White Bear to Minneapolis, leased, 13 miles in Minnesota. Duluth Short Line Railway, Thompson to West Superior, leased, 16.39 miles in Minnesota and 1.36 miles in Wisconsin. Kettle River Railroad, Sandstone Junction to Mineral Springs, owned, 5 miles in Minnesota. Total, 247}.
