CHICAGO, ST. PAUL & KANSAS CITY

RAILWAY COMPANY,

AUDITOR'S OFFICE, ST. PAUL, Nov. 3, 1888.

E. S. Warner, Esq., Secretary Railroad & Warehouse Commission, St. Paul, Minn.

DEAR SIR: I was of the opinion a few days ago that the report of the Chicago, St. Paul & Kansas City Railway would be submitted to you ere this. Upon examination I find that the report is incomplete and not in fit condition to send you; I wish, therefore, you would let me know how much further time we can have, if any, to prepare a new report. If you must have figures at once, I will submit the report that is made up, and although it will not be official, you may be able to get such figures from it as will answer in this

extreme case.

If new report should be made up, we can not agree to furnish it inside of four weeks.

I have had charge of this office only a few days, and consequently can not give any satisfactory explanation as to the delay, and the management was not fully aware of it; under the circumstances, we beg your indulgence this year, with the promise that hereafter there will be no cause for complaint.

Yours truly,

NOTE: The commission could not wait so long.

M. C. HEALION,
General Auditor.

Vol. V-45.
