MEMBERS, PROCEEDINGS, PAPERS AND

NAME AND OBJECT. This Association shall be called " The Vermont Bar Association.” Its object is to cultivate the science of jurisprudence; to promote reform in the law; to facilitate the administration of justice; to elevate the standard of the legal profession ; to cherish a fraternal spirit among its members, and to perpetuate their memory.
MEMBERS. All members of the Bar of this State who have received the circular of invitation to this meeting, and have attended the meeting, may become members of the Association by signature of the roll and payment of the admission fee. Any member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of this State, in good standing, may become a member of the Association, if nominated by the committee on admissions and elected by the Association, at any regular or adjourned meeting ; such election shall be by ballot, and ten negative ballots, or one-fourth the whole number cast, shall be sufficient to defeat an election ; provided that such election shall not have effect until the per- . son elected shall sign the roll and pay to the treasurer his admission fee, as provided in the constitution, nor unless he so signs and pays before the termination of the annual meet
