The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

An act to authorise the laying out of a State Road therein named.

The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That Ebenezer Brigham, Abraham Morse and Sexton B. Newcomb be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a State road commencing at or near the house of S. B. Newcomb, on the north-east quarter of section thirty, town seven of range nine east, in the county of Dane,thence running a south-easterly direction until it crosses the State road leading from Exeter to Fort Winnebago in the town of Verona, at the north line of A. D. Carleton's farm, on section ten, town six, north range eight east, thence nearly due west, until it intersects the road leading from Badger Mills to Mineral Point by the way of Blue Mounds.

SEC. 2. The said commissioners shall receive for the laying vide compensa. of said road such compensation as the supervisors of the several counties through which the road shall run may determine : Provided, that no monies in the State treasury shall be appropriated therefor.

Chap. 236 An Act to provide for laying out and opening a State Roid from Battlefield to Coon

Commissioners appointed to lay out a road.

Prairie in Bad Ax(e) County.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That David Wright, William T. Sterling and John Graham, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and locate a state road from Battlefield at the mouth of Bad Ax(e) river, on the Mississippi river, to intersect with the road leading from Prairie du Chien to Black River Falls at or near

Coon Prairie in the county of Bad Ax(e): Provided, That Proviso.
nothing herein contained shall be construed, meant or taken,
now or at any future time, as creating any liability or obligation
on the part of the state of Wisconsin, or the county or town of
Bad Ax(e) to pay the whole or any part of the expenses of
the location or opening of said road.

An Act relating to the duties of Sheriffs, Justices of the Peace and Constables.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows : SECTION 1. It shall be the duty of all Justices of the When Justices, Peace, Sheriffs and Constables within this state, whenever they plaint. may have knowledge of any offence committed against the provisions of section forty-seven and fifty-two, of chapter one hundred and thirty-four, of the Revised Statutes, or against the provisions of any other Statute, the violation of which is by law made a misdemeanor, immediately to make complaint thereof before some Justice of the Peace within the county where such offence is committed, who shall issue his warrant, and upon arrest, proceed to try such offence in the manner prescribed in chapter one hundred and forty-five of the Revised Statutes. An Act to authorise the construction of a toll bridge across Fox River.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate und Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That Edward C. Foote, James Hanchett and Tracy P. Brigham, their associates and assigns, be, and they are hereby authorised and empowered to build and maintain a bridge across Fox river, at such point between the head and foot of Grand Chute Rapids as they may deem most expedient and advisable.

SEC. 2. Said bridge shall not be less than twelve feet wide and shall contain a draw of sufficient width to pass and re-pass all boats and water crafts free of charge and expense and without unnecessary delay.

SEC. 3. The persons herein named, their associates and assigns, shall have power after the completion of said bridge to demand and collect tolls for passing the same as follows: for every vehicle drawn by one horse or mule, ten cents; for every vehicle drawn by two animals, twenty cents, and for every additional animal, five cents; for every foot passenger, three cents, and for all animals in droves, two cents each.

SEC. 4. The said Edward C. Foote, James Hanchett and Tracy P. Brigham, their associates and assigns shall keep posted up in some conspicuous place on said bridge a list of the rates of tolls allowed by this act.

SEC. 5. This act may be amended, altered or repealed by any future legislature.

An Act to provide for the election of Supervisors in the city of Kenosha.

The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate und Assembly do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. At the annual election to be held in the city of Kenosha on the first Tuesday of April next, and at each annual election thereafter, there shall be elected one supervisor in the first ward of said city, and one supervisor from the second Their powers and third wards of said city, who are hereby empowered and authorised to meet with and act in the county board of supervisors of the county of Kenosha, in the same manner and with the same rights and powers as is or may by law be prescribed and exercised by other members of said boord.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its

Davis, William Starr, Addison Mapis, Franklin Lathrop, Charles F. Hammond, 2d, Joseph Scribner, George D. Curtis, Josiah Drummond, J. W. Carlurt, J. Look, Peter V. Saug, C. E. Stawund, L. P. Hill, C. J. Goss and B. F. Moon be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners, under the direction of a majority of whom subscriptions may be received to the capital stock of the Fond du Lac county plank road company hereby incorporated, and they may cause books to be opened at such times and places as they shall direct, for the purpose of receiving subscriptions to the capital stock of said company, first giving thirty days' notice of the times and places of receiving such subscriptions by publishing the same in one or more newspapers printed in Fond du Lac county.

SEC. 2. The capital stock of said company shall be one Incorporation. hundred thousand dollars, in shares of ten dollars each, and as soon as five hundred shares of the capital stock shall be subscribed, and five per cent. of the amount thereon
