That the official acts of Noah Phelps, the Clerk Declared valich of the circuit court of the county of Green, in taking the acknowledgments of deeds and other instruments, from the first, day of January, eighteen hundred and fifty, to the first day of March of the same year, be, and the said acts are hereby declared valid in law to all intents and purposes as the said acts would have been if the said Noah Phelps had, as such Clerk, been authorised by law to take such acknowledgments. Draw to be built Rates of Toll. Proviso. List of rates to be posted. An Act to authorise the construction of a bridge across Fox River at Grand Kaukalin. The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows: SECTION 1. That George W. Lawe, David P. Meade and Clark Knight, their associates and assigns, be, and they are hereby authorised and empowered to build and maintain a bridge across Fox river, at some convenient point on the rapids at Grand Kaukalin in the county of Brown. SEC. 2. Said bridge shall not be less than twelve feet wide, and shall contain a draw over the most navigable channel of said river, of sufficient width to pass and re pass all boats and water crafts free of charge and expense and without unneces sary delay. SEC. 3. The persons herein named, their associates and assigns, shall have power after the completion of said bridge to demand and collect tolls for passing the same as follows: for every vehicle drawn by one horse or mule, ten cents; for every. vehicle drawn by two horses, oxen or mules, twenty cents; for each additional horse, ox or mule, five cents; for every foot passenger, five cents, and for animals in droves, two cents each: Provided, sheep and hogs shall not be charged more than at the rate of one cent per head. SEC. 4. The said persons herein named, their associates and assigns shall keep posted up in some conspicuous place on said bridge a list of the rates of tolls allowed by this act. SEC. 5. That John Boyd, Lyman Fargo and David Sumner, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a state road from Menasha to Plover in Portage coun ty, by Fremont and the Little River Mills. SEC. 2. Newcomb, on the north-east quarter of section thirty, town seven of range nine east, in the county of Dane, thence running a south-easterly direction until it crosses the State road leading from Exeter to Fort Winnebago in the town of Verona, at the north line of A. D. Carleton's farm, on section ten, town six, north range eight east, thence nearly due west, until it intersects the road leading from Badger Mills to Mineral Point by the way of Blue Mounds. SEC. 2. It shall be the duty of all Justices of the When Justices, Peace, Sheriffs and Constables within this state, whenever they plaint. may have knowledge of any offence committed against the provisions of section forty-seven and fifty-two, of chapter one hundred and thirty-four, of the Revised Statutes, or against the provisions of any other Statute, the violation of which is by law made a misdemeanor, immediately to make complaint thereof before some Justice of the Peace within the county where such offence is committed, who shall issue his warrant, and upon arrest, proceed to try such offence in the manner prescribed in chapter one hundred and forty-five of the Revised Statutes.
