The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The action of the town of Pleasant Springs in the county of Dane, taken at the last annual town meeting of said town, in relation to the distribution of the public school monies to the several school districts therein contained, shall, and the same is hereby declared binding on the school superintendent of said town in making the distribution of said school monies.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

An Act for the laying out of a State Road in the county of Dodge.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Spencer Givens, Charles Billinghurst and John C. Lewis, are hereby appointed Commissioners to lay out and establish a state road from the village of Dodge Centre in the county of Dodge, to the village of Hustisford in said county, upon the most direct and practicable route.

SEC. 2. The said Commissioners shall be entitled to receive for laying out said road such compensation as the board of Supervisors of the county of Dodge may deem sufficient: Provided, no part of the expense for the laying out of said road shall be paid out of the State Treasury.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Sheldon Fox, Samuel B. Vinton and Allen H. Commissioners appointed to lay Atwater are hereby appointed Commissioners to lay out and out road. establish a state road from the village of Lowell in the county of Dodge to Oak Grove in the town of Fairfield in said county of Dodge, upon the most direct and most practicable route.

SEC. 2. The said Commissioners shall be entitled to receive Compensation. for laying out said road such compensation as the board of Supervisors of Dodge county may deem sufficient: Provided, Proviso. that no part of the expense of the laying out of the said road shall be paid out of the State Treasury.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That Sylvester Wheeler, Matthew Hause, Appointment of Joel Britts, John L. Sarten and Jonas Loveless be and hereby are appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a state road, beginning at the junction of the Madison and Verona state road in the county of Dane, and running thence southwest on the present road, or as near as practicable, to Wiota, in the county of Lafayette.

An Act to lay out and establish a certain road therein named.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

Appointment of SECTION 1. That Abraham Morton, C. J. Marsh, and Wellington Kollack, be, and are hereby appointed Commissioners to lay out and establish a state road from Pardeeville in Columbia county, via Montello to Stevens' Point in Portage county. SEC. 2. The said Commissioners shall receive a fair compensation for their services, from the several counties through which said road passes, each county paying a just proportion of said expenses: Provided, that no part of the expense of laying out said road shall be paid out of the State Treasury. An Act granting to John Coumbs and Thomas Andrew the right to keep and maintain a ferry across the Wisconsin river in the town of Richwood in the county of Richland.

The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. John Coumbs and Thomas Andrew, their heirs, right to main- executors, administrators and assigns, shall have the exclusive right and privilege, for the period of fifteen years, of keeping and maintaining a ferry across Wisconsin river, on section num ber thirty-six, in town nine, north of range number two west in the town of Richwood in the county of Richland.

SEC. 2. The said ferry shall be subject to such regulations as other ferries are or may by law be subject, and the proprietors thereof shall be entitled to receive for crossing any vehicle drawn by one or two horses or one yoke of oxen forty cents, for each additional horse or ox ten cents, for man and horse twenty-five cents, for cattle or horses in droves eight cents each Provided, hogs and sheep shall not be charged more than three cents per head, and for foot passengers ten cents each.

There is hereby appropriated to George Hyer, printed. out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of thirteen dollars and seventy-five cents, in full payment for publishing in the Waukesha Democrat, proposals for public printing for 1850, and notice respecting interest on canal lands, by order of Secretary of State.

SECTION 1. That the name of the town of Grand Kaukalin, Change of name in the county of Brown, is hereby changed to Kau-kau-na, by which name it shall be hereafter known.

An Act to legalise the acts of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Green County.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That the official acts of Noah Phelps, the Clerk Declared valich of the circuit court of the county of Green, in taking the acknowledgments of deeds and other instruments, from the first. day of January, eighteen hundred and fifty, to the first day of March of the same year, be, and the said acts are hereby declared valid in law to all intents and purposes as the said acts would have been if the said Noah Phelps had, as such Clerk, been authorised by law to take such acknowledgments.

Chap. 231 An Act to authorise the construction of a bridge across Fox River at Grand Kaukalin.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows :

SECTION 1. That George W. Lawe, David P. Meade and Clark Knight, their associates and assigns, be, and they are hereby authorised and empowered to build and maintain a bridge across Fox river, at some convenient point on the rapids at Grand Kaukalin in the county of Brown.

SEC. 2. Said bridge shall not be less than twelve feet wide, and shall contain a draw over the most navigable channel of said river, of sufficient width to pass and re pass all boats and water crafts free of charge and expense and without unneces sary delay.

SEC. 3. The persons herein named, their associates and assigns, shall have power after the completion of said bridge to demand and collect tolls for passing the same as follows: for every vehicle drawn by one horse or mule, ten cents; for every vehicle drawn by two horses, oxen or mules, twenty cents; for each additional horse, ox or mule, five cents; for every foot passenger, five cents, and for animals in droves, two cents each: Provided, sheep and hogs shall not be charged more than at the rate of one cent per head.

SEC. 4. The said persons herein named, their associates and assigns shall keep posted up in some conspicuous place on said bridge a list of the rates of tolls allowed by this act. SEC. 5. This act may be amended, altered or repealed by any future legislature.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That John Boyd, Lyman Fargo and David Sumner, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a state road from Menasha to Plover in Portage county, by Fremont and the Little River Mills.
