For copies of all correspondence, Orders in Council, and documents relating to representations made by the Government of Canada relating to the Rebellion. of the Southern States.

ment of Canada for Arms, and asks compliance with his
application....

Sir E. Head to Mr. Wilkins.

25 April... Arms of Militia prohibited by Statute from being taken out
of Canada....

25 April... Regrets inability to comply with application for arms..

Sir E. Head to Lord Lyons.

26 April... Sends copies of letters from Governor Morgan and Mr.
Wilkins, and replies.

3 May..

....

Did not send telegram informing Consul at Boston that he
could supply Arms on requisition through Minister at
Washington....

10 May....Acknowledging correspondence with Mr. Seward relative
to applications for Arms.

27 April... Nothing ought to be done respecting applications for!
Arms without orders from England. Her Majesty's
Government have not authorized him to apply for them
to Colonial Governors. "They are far, indeed, from
"having manifested a desire to take part in the strife.
"They have, on the contrary, sought to avoid even the
"appearance of anything which might be construed to
"imply such a desire".

3 May.... Note from Mr. Seward, and reply, relative to applications
for Arms....

The Duke of Newcastle to Sir E. Head.
Approves of answers returned to applications for Arms....
Her Majesty's Government approve of Sir E. Head's n
duct. "No arms or ammunition ought on any account
"to be sold or lent to either of the contending parties."
