Sec. 2. Accounts payable.-All accounts for any expenses contracted by the Senate under this Act shall have attached thereto an affidavit of the claimant that the account is just and correct and that the several charges therein made are reasonable and no more than is customary to be charged private individuals, and that no part of the same has been paid, except as therein stated, and such accounts shall be examined by the standing committees on Employees, Accounts and Expenditures, of the Senate, and when approved by said committees shall be certified by the chairmen of said committees as being correct. Each account must be verified by the presiding officer of the Senate as being contracted in conformity with a resolution duly offered and adopted, and upon examination and adjustment thereof by the Auditor of Public Accounts and approved by the Secretary of State, the Auditor of Public Accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant for the amount so certified upon the general fund of the state.

Sec. 3. Emergency. Whereas, an emergency exists, this act shall be in force from and after its passage and approval. Approved, April 8, 1918.

AN ACT to provide for the payment of mileage to members of the House and Senate in attendance upon the Thirty-sixth (Extra) Session of the Legislature of Nebraska, and to appropriate therefor the sum of $3,110.20, and to declare an emergency.

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska: Section 1. Appropriation for mileage of members of legislature. That the sum of three thousand one hundred ten dollars and twenty cents, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the state general fund for the payment

of mileage of members of the Senate and House in attendance upon the Thirty-sixth (Extra) Session of the Nebraska Legislature.

Sec. 2. Clairs for.-All mileage accounts under this act shall be computed at the rate of ten cents for every mile traveled in going to and returning from the place of meeting of the Legislature on the most usual route. All accounts shall have attached thereto an affidavit of the claimant that the account is just and correct and that the several charges therein made are reasonable and that no part of the same has been paid except as therein stated, such accounts shall be examined by the standing committee on accounts and expenditures of the house where the member is seated and when approved by said committee shall be certified by the chairman thereof as being correct. Each account must be verified and signed by the presiding officers of the respective houses, and upon examination and adjustment thereof by the Auditor and approval by the Secretary of State, the Auditor of Public Accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrants for the amount so certified from the general fund of the state.

Sec. 3. Emergency.-Whereas, an emergency exists, this act shall be in force from and after its passage and approval.

AN ACT to provide for the per diem payment of members of the Legislature in attendance upon the Thirty-sixth (Extra) Session of the Legislature of Nebraska, to appropriate the sum of $12,800.00.

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Appropriation for salaries of legislators.-That the sum of twelve thousand eight hundred dollars, or so much. thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the

(Ch. 16 state general fund for the payment of per diem of the members and presiding officers of the Legislature in attendance upon the Thirty-sixth (Extra) Session of the Legislature of Nebraska; said per diem to be computed for not more than ten days at the rate of ten dollars per day for members and twenty dollars per day for the Lieutenant Governor.

Sec. 2. Warrants for.—That the Auditor of Public Accounts is hereby authorized and required, upon presentation of the certificate of the Lieutenant Governor or Speaker of the House of Representatives stating that the person mentioned in said certificate is entitled to compensation per diem to the amount allowed by law, to draw his warrant on the general fund for the amount so certified as due; provided that said amount so certified shall, after examination and adjustment by the Auditor of Public Accounts and approval by the Secretary of State, be found correct.
