Sec. 17. Sec. 18. Sec. 94. Sec. 25. That if any person shall write, print or publish Libel any false or malicious libel, of, or concerning, another; or shall cause or procure any such libel to be written, printed or pablished: every person so offending shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not exceeding five hundred dollars, and, moreover, be liable to the party injured.

Sec. 27. Sec. 31. That if any juror or witness shall corruptly take or witness and receive any money, goods, chattels, or other reward, either receiving bribe directly or indirectly, in any action or suit instituted before

any court having jurisdiction thereof; such juror or witness so offending shall, on conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not exceeding five hundred dollars, and imprisoned in the cell or dungeon of the jail of the county, and be fed on bread and water only, not exceeding thirty days.

Sec. 32. That if any person, legally called upon to give Witness refusing testimony before any court or other authority in this State, auto testify

or influence the opinion, judgment or decree of any judge or justice of the peace of this State, or arbitrator, in any action, plea, suit, complaint, indictment, controversy, matter or cause, depending, or which shall depend, before him or them, or before any court in this State; every person so offending shall, upon convietion thereof, be fined in any sum not less than fifty, nor more than one thousand dollars.

Sec. 34. That if any person shall, by bribery, persuasion, seKriicry of a mi. duction, or any other arts or means whatever, attempt to prenisterial officer, vail upon any ministerial officer, or other person charged with

the safe-keeping of any person accused or convicted of any of fence against the laws of this State, to permit such person to escape from the custody of such officer or other person; every person so offending shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not more than two hơndred, nor less than twenty-five dollars.

Sec. 36. That if any person shall willfully and maliciously Maliciously set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any woods, prairies, or setting fre 10

holl woods, prairies, other grounds, within this State, other than his own; or shall intentionally permit the fire to pass from his own prairie or grounds, to the injury of any other person or persons: every person so offending shall, on conviction thereof, for every such offence, be fined in a sum not exceeding fisty dollars, at the discretion of the court, and stand committed until the sentence of the court is complied with; and shall be liable to an action of the party injured, for tbe damages which he, she or they may have sustained in consequence of such fire.

Sec. 37. Sec. 39. That if any person shall wrongfully, and without any lawful authority, cut down, fell, box, bore, or otherwise or injuring treen;
