Puerto Rico, by act of February 12, 1940 (54 Stat. 22).

Executive Order No. 8678, February 11, 1941, supersedes Executive Order No. 8337, February 3, 1940, and places certain described lands in Puerto Rico under the control and jurisdiction of the War Department for use as an engineer depot for national defense purposes.

By Executive Order No. 8867, August 22, 1941, a specified portion of the La Puntilla military reservation, San Juan, P. R., was transferred to the Treasury Department.

The act of April 10, 1943 (57 Stat. 61), authorizes the Secretary of War to convey to the people of Puerto Rico a certain portion of the San Juan Military Reservation, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The act of December 6, 1944 (58 Stat. 794), authorizes the Secretary of War to convey to the people of Puerto Rico the Mayaguez Barracks Military Reservation, to be used for educational purposes.

2142. Virgin Islands; laws applicable.

By Executive Order No. 8858, August 19, 1941, certain lands on Crown Mountain, Island of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, were transferred from the Interior Department to the War Department for national defense purposes.
