BOARD OF COMISSIONERS FOR THE NAVY. This Board was established by act of 7th February, 1815. It consists of three officers of the Navy, in rank not below that of a Post Cape tain. The officer of the Board holding the oldest Cominission, presides. The Board is, by law, attached to the office of the Secretary of the Navy, and under his superintendence, discharges all the ministerial duties of that office relative to the procuremeut of Naval stores and materials, and the construction, armament, equipment, and employment, off vessels of war, as well as other matters connected with the Naval Establishment of the United States.
