CHAPTER 139.

An Act to Amend Chapter 68, Acts of 1886, entitled "An Act to Amend and Consolidate the Acts Relating to the Halifax Protestant Orphans' Home."

(Passed the 18th day of April, A. D. 1922.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Asesmbly, as follows:

1. Section 1 of Chapter 68 of the Acts, of 1886 is Sec. 1, hereby amended by striking out the word "fifty" in the eleventh line thereof and by inserting the words "one hundred" in lieu thereof.

CHAPTER 140.

An Act to Amend Chapter 171, Acts of 1891, with Respect to the Halifax Philharmonic Society.

(Passed the 29th day of April, A. D. 1922.)

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 2 of Chapter 171 of the Acts of 1891 is Sec. 2,repealed; repealed and the following substituted therefor:—

The object of the corporation hereby created Objects. shall be to encourage, promote, cultivate and develop the arts of music in all its branches, to organize, produce and manage festivals, concerts, musical competitions and other musical and dramatic performances and entertainments and to develop, extend and increase musical knowledge and the love for things musical among its members and throughout the public.

CHAPTER 141.

An Act to Amend Chapter 111, Acts of 1903, "An
Act to Incorporate the Pictou Cottage
Hospital Board.”

(Passed the 29th day of April, A. D. 1922.)

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 1 of Chapter 111 of the Acts of 1903 is hereby amended by striking out the words "Pictou Cottage Hospital Board," and inserting in lieu thereof the words "Pictou Memorial Hospital Board," and the said corporation shall hereafter be known as the "Pictou Memorial Hospital Board."

2. Section 4 of said Act is hereby amended by striking out the word "fifty" in the second line thereof and inserting in lieu thereof the words "seventy-five."

CHAPTER 142.

An Act to Amend Chapter 122, Acts of 1909, entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Amherst Cemetery Company of Amherst, in the County of Cumberland."

(Passed the 18th day of April, A. D., 1922).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Chapter 122 of the Acts of 1909, entitled, “An Act to Incorporate the Amherst Cemetery Company of Amherst, in the County of Cumberland," is amended by adding thereto the following section:

(28) The corporation shall have power to assess, Lot owners each and every lot owner, their heirs or legal represen-assessed. tatives, annually, for a sum not exceeding three dollars ($3.00) each, which money shall be expended by the corporation for the protection, improvement, care and management of the cemetery, the amount of such assessment to be fixed at any annual or special meeting of the corporation, duly called after at least ten days' notice by advertisement in one of the newspapers published in the Town of Amherst, in the County of Cumberland, aforesaid, and such assessment may be sued in the name of the corporation in the same manner and with like costs as if they were private debts, in any court of competent jurisdiction.

CHAPTER 143.

An Act to Amend Chapter 223, Acts of 1912, entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Nova Scotia Trust Company."

(Passed the 13th day of April, A. D. 1922).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 4 of Chapter 223 of the Acts of 1912, as Sec. 4, repealamended by Chapter 154 of the Acts of 1914, is hereby repealed and the following section substituted there for:

Sec. 14, repeal

An Act to Amend Chapter 232 of the Acts of 1912, entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Scottish Canadian Investment Company, Limited."

(Passed the 29th day of April, A. D., 1922).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 1 of Chapter 232 of the Acts of 1912 is amended by striking out the words "Scottish Canadian Investment Company, Limited," in the eighth and ninth lines thereof and substituting therefor the words, "Scottish Canadian Investment and Trust Company."

2. Section 2 of the said Act is repealed and the following substituted therefor:—

2. The provisions of an Act entitled, "An Act respecting Trust Companies," passed by the Legislature of Nova Scotia at the session thereof held in the year A. D., 1922, except Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 26, 66 and 69 thereof, shall apply to the Company, and in so far as there are provisions in that Act or otherwise applicable to the Company inconsistent with the said provisions of an Act entitled, "An Act Respecting Trust Companies," the said provisions of the last mentioned Act shall apply, and the provisions which are inconsistent as aforesaid shall not apply, and the Company is invested with all the powers, privileges and immunities and is subject to all the liabilities and provisions in said Act entitled, "An Act Respecting Trust Companies," except those set forth in the said specified sections thereof.

3. Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and the schedule to said Chapter 232 are repealed.

4. Section 14 of said Chapter 232 is repealed and ed, substituted. the following substituted therefor:

14. The capital stock of the Company shall be two hundred and fifty thousand dollars divided into shares of one hundred dollars each, which may be increased from time to time to a sum not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars.

CHAPTER 145.

An Act to Amend Chapter 167, Acts of 1914, entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Waterford General Hospital."

(Passed the 29th day of April, A. D., 1922).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

(10) Such debentures shall be in the form prescrib- Debentures. ed in the schedule hereto and shall bear interest at a rate not to exceed eight per centum per annum and shall be redeemable in twenty years from the date of their issue thereof, or in such shorter periods as the corporation or its directors by resolution or vote may determine, and such debentures shall subject to prior incumbrances, previously registered by a first charge upon all real and personal property and income of the corporation until discharged by payment. The corporation shall have power through its President and Secretary to execute a mortgage of its property to secure payment of said debentures and interest thereon.
