not less than four dollars, nor more than forty dollars, or be committed to the common jail for the space of not more than sixty days, according to the nature of the offence, and such offender shall also be subject to an action of trespass or damage.

31. The corporation shall have power to make, alter or repeal such by-laws, not inconsistent with this Act or the laws of the Province, as may be deemed necessary for its purpose, and the same, when approved by the Governor-in-Council, shall have the force of law.

By-laws.

32. No person, whether the owner of a lot or other- Disinterments. wise, shall, without the consent of a majority of the trustees, disinter, take up or remove any body buried

in said cemetery.

Interments,

33. It shall be the duty of the secretary of the etc., recorded. corporation to keep a record of all interments, the age of the person buried, the date of interment and the number of the lot in which such interment is made and a record of all disinterments.

34. The trustees shall lay off and keep in reserve and good order a piece of ground for the burial of the poor and strangers.

tion.

WHEREAS, it is proposed in 1923 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Scottish immigrants in Nova Scotia;

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council and Assembly, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Scottish Pioneer Association Act."

McKay, A. D. Patterson, D. R. Sutherland, J. A. Fisher, C. H. MacKay, William A. Dickson, K. C.; Alex. D. McKay and John D. MacDonald, of Pictou; John A. MacGregor, Robert McDonald, George Munroe, William Maxwell, James Saunders, Allie McQuarrie and Rod. Fraser, of Westville; George W. Thompson, of Ponds; Archibald McKenzie, of River John; Dr. George W. Whitman, John J. McDougall, Dr. Robert M. Benvie, of Stellarton, are hereby created a body corporate by the name of The Scottish Pioneer Association, hereinafter called "The Corporation."

3. The Corporation may sue or be sued and may enter into any manner of legal contracts and agreements and may make, accept, indorse or become parties to cheques, promissory notes, bills of exchange or any negotiable instruments whatsoever.

7. As soon as convenient after the passing of this General meeting to appoint Act, a general meeting of the Corporation shall be officers. called by the above-named corporators for the appointment of officers and the transaction of the business of the Corporation.

An Act to Incorporate the Shelburne Women's Club.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council and Assembly, as follows:

Irwin, Mrs. Evalina Blanchard, Mrs. Maud Nickerson, Mrs. Jessie Muir, Mrs. Robena Bower, Mrs. Etta Dexter, Mrs. Augusta Dexter, Mrs. Augusta Etherington, Mrs. Agnes Bower, Mrs. Alice Irwin, Mrs. Lillian Bower, Mrs. Harriett King, Mrs. Beatrice Harris, Mrs. Josephine MacDonald, Mrs. Marie Holden, Mrs. Kate Hood, Mrs. Mildred Cox, Mrs. Julia Atwood, Mrs. Louise Bachman, Miss Ethlyn Gould, Miss Ruth Bower, Miss Lillian Etherington, Miss Genevra Pennington, Miss Bernice Bower, Miss Madge MacKay, Miss Evelyn Kean, Miss Augusta Hood, Miss Lois Morrison, Miss Annie Richardson, all of Shelburne, in the County of Shelburne, Province of Nova Scotia, and all other persons who now are or shall hereafter become members of the Club, are hereby constituted a body corporate under the name of the "Shelburne Women's Club."

2. The objects of the Club shall be:

(a) to secure the affiliation and co-operation of women interested in religious work, philanthropy, education, social and moral reform, art, literature and music;

(b) to further all efforts for the benefit of women and children;

(c) to promote the general welfare of the poor by social and sanitary reforms, by industrial instruction, by the inculcation of habits of providence and self-dependence and by the establishment and maintenance of any activities to these ends;

(d) generally by public discussion, distribution of literature, promotion of legislative enactment and by any other means to assist in the furtherance of all or any of the objects herein before mentioned.
