SIR-Herewith we hand you our report for the year 1907, it being the Ninth Annual Report of the Corporation Commission, and we desire to call your attention to some of the matters contained therein. We publish in this report the statute creating the Corporation Commission, and all amendatory statutes relating to the Commission or its duties; the tariffs of rates and the classification of the Southern Express Company and of each railroad in the State; the rules and regulations of the Corporation Commission; the cases disposed of by the Corporation Commission during the calendar year; the annual reports of railroad companies, street railway companies, telegraph companies and the Southern Express Company, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1907.

This report also contains the assessment of all property required by law to be assessed by the Corporation Commission, and shows the distribution thereof to the counties and municipalities of the State. It also shows the amount of incomes returned for taxation, with the taxes computed thereon, and the distribution of same, by counties. It contains reports of the condition of business on December 3, 1907, in each of the 283 State, savings and private banks over which the Corporation Commission exercises supervision.

RAILROADS.

There was in operation in the State during the year 4,106 miles of railroad, not including double and side tracks. This is an increase
