fornication, or immoral, lewd, lascivious or other immodest or immoral conduct or behavior; and no person or persons, being the owner or owners of, or having the control of any house, building or premises within the limits of the city of Minneapolis, shall knowingly permit or allow or suffer any such person or persons as are herein before described, to occupy and remain in occupation and possession of said house. building or premises. Any person violating the provisions or any provision of this section, shall, upon conviction thereof before the Municipal Court of Minneapolis, be punished by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars nor less than fifty dollars, or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not exceeding ninety days, or both such fine and imprisonment.

SEC. 4. Any person who commits any act of lewdness or indecency within the limits of said City of Minneapolis, and any male or female who, without any apparent lawful occupation, may be arrest- resides in or occupies apartments in any disorderly house or house of ill-fame within the limits of said city, may be arrested and brought before the Municipal Court of the City of Minneapolis, and upon the conviction of the offenses or either of them herein before mentioned in this section, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding fifty dollars nor less than ten dollars and costs of prosecution, or to be imprisoned in the county jail or city prison for a period not exceeding ninety days, or both, at the discretion of the court.

SEC. 5. All ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

AN ORDINANCE

TO PROHIBIT GAMING AND GAMBLING HOUSES.

The City Council of the City of Minneapolis do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Gambling with cards, dice, gaming tables, or other gambling device or devices whatever, and the keeping of all houses or places for the purpose of gambling or gaming or fraudulent practices, and the keeping or setting up of any gambling device designed to be used in gambling within the limits of the city of Minneapolis are hereby prohibited.

SEC. 2. No person shall gamble with cards, dice, gaming tables or any other gambling device or devices whatever, and no person shall keep any house or place or suffer or allow any house or place * to him or her belonging, or by him or her occupied, or by which he or she has the control, to be kept for the purpose of gambling or gaming or fraudulent practices, and no person shall keep or set up any gambling device whatever designed to be used in gambling or gaming within the city of Minneapolis.

SEC. 3. No person shall bet any money, or other property, at or upon any gaming table, game or device prohibited by this ordinance SEC. 4. Any person who shall violate any provision of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof before the Municipal Court of said city be punished by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars and costs of prosecution, and imprisonment until such fine and costs are fully paid, not to exceed ninety days.

SEC. 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance hereby repealed.

SEC. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication.

AN ORDINANCE

RELATING TO MISDEMEANORS, BREACHES OF THE
PEACE, AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT.

The City Council of the City of Minneapolis do ordain as follows:

SECTION 1. Any person who may hereafter be found lurking, lying in wait, or concealed in any house, or other building, or in any yard or premises, or street, within the limits of the city of Minneapolis, with intent to do any mischief, or to pilfer or to commit any crime or misdemeanor whatever, shall for every such offense, on conviction thereof before the Municipal Court of said city, be punished by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars and costs of prosecution, and imprisonment for a period not exceeding ninety days, either or both at the discretion of said court, and may moreover be required to give bail for good behavior.

SEC. 2. Any person or persons who shall make, aid, countenance or assist in making any noise, riot, disturbance, or improper diversion, and all persons who shall collect in bodies or crowds in ing noise, &c., said city, for unlawful purposes or to the annoyance or disturbance punished. of the citizens or travelers, shall, for each offense, on conviction before the Municipal Court of the city of Minneapolis, be liable to the same fine and punishment provided for in section one of this ordinance.

SEC. 3. Any person who shall be found in a state of open or notorious drunkenness or intoxication, in any street or public place within the limits of the city of Minneapolis, shall on conviction thereof before the Municipal Court of the city of Minneapolis, be liable to the punishment and penalties provided in section one of this ordinance.

SEC. 4. Any person who shall appear in any street or public or exposed place in a state of nudity, or in a dress not belonging to his or her sex, or in any indecent or lewd dress or shall make any indecent exposure of his or her person, or be guilty of any obscene or filthy act, or of any lewd, indecent, immoral or insulting conduct, language or behavior, or shall exhibit, sell, or offer to sell, any indecent, obscene or lewd book, picture or other thing, or shall exhibit or perform any indecent, immoral or ewd play, or other representation, shall upon conviction thereof

before the Municipal Court in and for the city of Minneapolis, be liable to the punishment and penalties provided in section one of this ordinance.

SEC. 5. No person shall swim or bathe in the Mississippi river, or in any creek, stream or pond, within the limits of the city of Minneapolis, between the hours of five o'clock, a. m. and half-past eight o'clock, p. m. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall on conviction thereof before the Municipal Court of and for the city of Minneapolis, be punished by a fine not exceeding twenty dollars and the costs of prosecution, and may be imprisoned until such fine and costs are paid, not exceeding, however, thirty days.

SEC. 6. Any person who shall inhumanely, unnecessarily, cruelly or wantonly beat, injure, or otherwise abuse any dumb animal, within the limits of the city of Minneapolis, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding twenty-five dollars and costs of prosecution, upon conviction thereof before the Municipal Court of the city of Minneapolis, and may be imprisoned until such fine and costs are paid, not exceeding thirty days.

SEC. 7. All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

SEC. 8. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and

after its publication.

The City Council of the City of Minneapolis do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Every owner or keeper of a dog or animal of the dog kind, within the limits of the City of Minneapolis, shall annually, on or before the thirtieth day of April, cause the same to be

registered, numbered, described and licensed for one year from the 1st day of the ensuing May, in the office of the City Clerk of said city, and shall pay therefor to the City Clerk the sum of one dollar and twenty cents for each male dog and two dollars and twenty cents for each female dog.

SEC. 2. The City Clerk of said city shall in the matter of issuing such licenses, perform all duties and be entitled to all fees prescribed and fixed by the general laws of the state and shall also, at an expense not exceeding five cents each, which he shall pay out of the license received by him in each case before he turns the same over to the treasurer, provide and furnish for each licensed dog a metallic tag, on which he shall have stamped or engraved the register number of the dog and the year when registered.

SEC. 3. Every owner or keeper of a dog or animal of the dog kind, within said city, shall place and keep around the neck of the dog or animal owned or kept by him, a collar, on which shall be securely fixed the metallic tag above mentioned, and also a metallic plate, not less than three fourths of one inch in width, with the name of the owner or keeper legally stamped or engraved thereon. SEC. 4. No person having the custody or control of any dog or animal of the dog kind, shall permit the same to go upon any street in said city, or to run at large within the limits of said city, unless it wear the collar above prescribed.

SEC. 5. It shall be lawful for any person to kill or destroy any dog or animal of the dog kind, found running at large within the limits of this city contrary to the provisions of this ordinance.

SEC. 6. No person shall keep or suffer to be kept on his premises or on premises occupied by him within said city, nor permit nor suffer to run at large in said city, or on any street thereof, any dog of a ferocious or vicious character, habit, or disposition, nor any in the habit of barking at, or in any manner annoying any person passing along in or using the street or streets of said city, and the Chief of Police, or any person, is hereby empowered to kill, or cause any such animal to be killed if found in any street, or at large in said city.

SEC. 7. The Mayor maý, by order and notice published three days in succession in the official paper of the city, require that all dogs running at large or in the streets of the city, be muzzled in such manner as the notice may prescribe, until the order be revoked. Any person having the care or control of a dog within said city, whether the owner or keeper or otherwise, who shall refuse or neglect to comply with such order, shall be punished as provided in section fourteen, of this ordinance.

SEC. 8. The Mayor is hereby authorized to appoint a dog killer, who shall possess police powers, and hold office during the pleasure of the Mayor, not exceeding the term of office of the latter officer.
